[GUIDE] The New Quickcast! [Dont Panic]

Ok, here I started playing dota after the update and see that my meepo hotkeys are resetted and can either have ALL keys on quick cast or NONE key on quick cast. Well, I started working things out and saw that its the same as the previous one! Just read ahead.

1. Go into settings, then hotkeys.
2. Click on "Unit Specific Hotkeys"
3. Here, you can choose the hotkeys for yourself like the previous one. There is a small lighting sign with each hotkey which indicates whether you want to put that particular hotkey on quick cast or not.

Same is the case with hotkeys, Here are screenshots of how to do it:-

But that doesn't allow me to set one hotkey for normal cast and one hotkey for quickcast on the same spell. It's still one or the other per spell.

agree. When you can use the same spell normal way and quickcast was primary feature....

+ described way is to make presets for every hero... Of course its better than nothing. But its not an exit of bad situation.

Sometimes I needed to be accurate and sometimes I needed to be fast, now I'm probably going to miss a lot of opportunities because I was either to slow or inaccurate.

nice thing for some character, appreciate this. Problem is that I use both ways of casting on almot every character -.-' so do I have to manually input this to every unit? or do we have way (which I couldn't find) to just put for all heroes both ways (quick and normal cast)? volvo, pls...


Edit - one more thing - do we have way to change 'casts' for i.e. units or damn courier? I almost killed my cow 3 times today because I tried to use my old quickast on this but they did not work. And I can't find way to bind hotkeys for them now -.-'

yeah "on the same spell", thats really impossible atm =(

For the players who wanted a normal cast and quick cast on 1 ability

Here's a temporary solution:

On the Hotkeys tab, go to Advanced Hotkeys. On the lower right, you'll see "Quickcast On Key Down". Make sure it's left unchecked.

Next time you want to avoid quickcasting an ability and instead perform a normal cast, just hold down the button assigned for the specific spell so that it will only cast once you release the button.

(Note: The assigned ability must be set on quickcast in order for this to work)

It only takes a bit of practice; I got the hang of it since there's a similar feature in LoL. Though, yeah, it's not the same like it used to be back then when I want to self-cast the ability. :/

Btw there still available to bypass this restriction by autoconfig.cfg. I've seen some big configs. But first I needn't so much, second - I cant edit it for my needs (not to clever for that). If someone can it would be great!

It not help, cause I guess it not show cast area for non-target casts and it not help me cast spell at myself.

It does show the cast area, but yes, the self-cast is the remaining problem here.

This is still not fixing my issue with items. It is either cast or quickcast but not both,

Product Update - Valve
* Added the ability to use Alt + key for self casting. This allows self casting to be possible using Quickcast. Can be toggled off in the options.

New update, its fixed now!

Wow, that definitely came out from lol, haha.They also brought back the possibility of having quickcast + normal cast for 1 ability. Guess it's back to normal then. :)
