Dota 2
Why the ♥♥♥♥ do people ping you and then say nothing?
I have never encountered such an action that is more physically ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ toxic than this ♥♥♥♥.

Person A pings Person B
Person B responds with "The ♥♥♥♥ would you like sir?"
Person A says nothing.
Person B threatens to throw the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ match if Person A does not respond
Person A still says nothing.

Are you guys completely ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ stupid or what? Can you rejects not force my hand to instantly mute everyone the moment I join a match?

Most players know from the circumstances and the location about the reason for a ping. Some situations don‘t need further explanations and some people cannot give you more than a ping.
„Give me a ping, Vasili. One ping only, please.
Aye, Captain.“

not every ping is malicious. could be they just want to get your attention for a moment, but if you dont react and continue doing what you were doing, thats just gamelife, baby.

Sometimes there's also not enough time to type out or say via voice chat that an area is dangerous so a single/double alt ping are usually enough to tell someone that they might want to be careful.

I'd say the circumstance generally revolves around

"That was an extremely poor play" - Like, thank you for spectating my performance while you have your own job and responsibilities to perform. Slow golf clap, you sir have the absolute stellar ability to perform both in your own lane, and spectating other lane's performance. Well ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ played.

or "Get the ♥♥♥♥ out of my lane, stop touching my creeps"

or "What kind of ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ performance was that? Why didn't you lay your life down for me?"

Yes, I do agree that it is fairly ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ easy to determine why a person pinged, but the moment you ask them about it, give them the floor to speak, they have nothing to ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ say. Golden rule, if you have nothing to ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ say, don't open your mouth goof.
The fact you don't know what the ping means, tells the player alot about you.

Yeah ping alone can be really bad communication. A ping can mean "Go in", or "Bo back", several pings can be trolling, can be "come and defend this tower", or "pls ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ gather for smoke", ping can say "someone is ganking", but it is useless without a missing call. Don't be tilted by that, but don't try to understand and don't take further pings into account.

I had someone tell me that a ping meant "watch out for SB" instead of blink/lasso sb after the fight went poorly... dude had a mic... could have just said watch out for sb... He didnt even use the alt ping, just a regular ping.

he could have pinged and alt click on SB to show SB missing, this is what I do, this is what most people do and it works. The miss alone isn't enough, the ping alone isn't enough.

You forget 1 crucial factor. Many Dota 2 player Can't speak proper English. So they just ping, but if you ask them with English they Can't answer you. Here in sea server, i countered many pinoy player who Can't understand English. They Will respon if you use their language like tang Ina or something like that

True. And very annoying when you consider the fact that in all likelyhood they could be playing on server where people understood thneir language instead of ruining games for people playing on a server predominately english-speaking. [i.e. south american trolls tanking games on ranked u.s. servers].

I straight up ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ love how every single time I bring a logical argument and concern into the forums, it is met with legitimately the most one off circumstance in the world.

Despite popular belief, not every single person that is spamming pings, doesn't speak English. Dota is an extremely toxic ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ game, I would say 75% of them speak English, but have their accounts silenced. Which leads me to one of my primary points I should bring up. If you cannot draw on the minimap, because you are silenced, why in the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ world would Valve allow you to spam pings?

The other 25% of people that spam pings, I would say 20% of them know how to speak, are not silenced, but can't type ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ a proper sentence structure, while 5% of the 100%, can't speak English at all.

Do I have any proof for this? Nope, just a straight up educated guess based on how ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ toxic the community is. But I absolutely love the fact that you bring up the one off scenario, opposed to addressing how logically accurate it is that these people are malicious with intent, have such a rotten ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ day of their life, that not only do they need to distract themselves from winning their lane, they also need to distract their random teammates from winning theirs.

Sorry to word things this way, but
People expect you to comprehend what a ping means - and in every circumstance a ping may mean something totally different. If you don't comprehend what a ping means, then any further time a player loses trying to explain you why they are pinging you would certainly mean an even bigger waste of time because of your entire lack of comprehension of the entire circumstance in the first place.

Good players will eventually forgive your lack of comprehension and don't even bother pinging you anymore - accepting the duty to carry the weight of playing with such an non comprehensive person such as you (who apparently is ready to threatens to flame, feed, trool and throw the game because of a ping).

To write out a sentence that takes all of 10 seconds while you are travelling from the base to your lane, is too much time to spend communicating with your teammate that you did in fact, attempt to communicate with.

Nope, you're a troll. If you can't play a competitive team-based game, and type at least 60 words per minute, you are the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ waste of space.

You could spend that time, looking at the enemies items.
That's what I would do.

But you literally just respodned to my question. Are you sure you would do what you said you would do, or would you not communicate with someone in the quick time that it took you to reply?

If you knew that the outcome of the match physically revolved around playing as a team and communicating as a team, you would just say ♥♥♥♥ it, i'm not going to physically communicate with anyone, i'll just ping them a few times for no apparent reason?

You would have to be high out of your ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ mind, if you think that it is expected to know what a player is thinking when they ping you.

It's a logical assumption that unless it is followed through with something clear and concise, that you should have no idea what is trying to be relayed.

If you ping a person in their lane, and then you announce a Missing call. Well ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, that is INFORMATIVE. Or you ping a person in their lane, and then you announce a Back call, again that is INFORMATIVE.

But to ping someone and not follow it up with any logical explanation, physically communicate in a written language, talk over VOIP, is just straight malicious trolling.

I really give you guys thumbs up though for trying to defend the actions of trolls. I'm not a ignorant developer of the game, you can't fool me.
Rambit Sep 8, 2020 @ 7:22pm
sometimes i ping when i see someone is too zoned out farming creeps and there is a enemy sleeking around them.
sometimes pinging is faster than typing because when I type the enemy doesnt magically leave me alone and lets me type
