Can somebody please explain blademail
Why is it that legion or ursa can kill himself on blademail by a Sladar, Dragonknight or a specter doesn't take any damage from hitting a blademail?

Ursa and Legion both hit hard and have, at best, moderate health pools. DK and Spectre hit much less hard and have damage reduction, I suspect they damage being reflected just isn't as great.

Magic immunity? Lifesteal?

If Legion Commander uses Duel on a hero with activated Blademail, she will take damage without some counter. Ursa using Overpower is similar except I thought he could disengage. Slardar and Dragon Knight can take damage from Blademail as far as I am aware. Spectre has Dispersion which reflects damage but I am not certain how it works. edit: There was a change to Blademail some time ago that made it reflect all types of damage.

Blademail returns the same damage TYPE. Someone with more armour will take less damage from hitting themselves

It sure is one of the best counters, you should use it to push towers though before yours do. edit: before your towers get pushed.

I'm pretty sure no one said that. Blademail, like many items, is situational. It's best against hard-hitting but squishy heroes; if they enemy team is full of tanks it would be considerable less useful.

Dont forget, there are things that just ignores blademail in Dota, and will kill you regardless of you using that blademail.

Uh, like what? I can't think of anything that ignores it. Unless you pop BKB and use a magic based spell on a blade mail target. Even then though it's not "ignored" as BKB just blocked the damage.

Units that are a separate unit from their caster. DeathWard, Mass serpent wards etc... The damage these units take are not reflected upon the caster. Deathward as an example cannot be destroyed and so the blademail damage will do no damage to it nor the caster.
Blademail reflects damage before reductions, so the one with more armor takes less damage.

The best counter to blademail is not attacking the player who has activated it.

And blademail reflect is pure so BKB does nothing, the daft thing is I think it should reflect the damage based on a % of hero's HP pool, so if a tanky hero hits you, you reflect the damage back a HP% of there HP. Its become almost as annoying as a shadow blade since they changed it.

Blademail reflects the same damage as normal but before reductions. It used to return pure dmg after reductions and not going through bkb - changed in 6.87
And it makes perfect sense
