I approached this subject by first creating a generic taunt with 56 frames of animation (1 for each sound effect) each exactly 60 FPS long. I listened to this on loop a few times and took note of sound effects which possessed a rich, deep tenor. I initially made note of "Rope Bounce", "Hit W/Board", "Joint", and "Grapple". Spoiler alert: I used none of these.
My first plan was to 'spam' the sound effects on top of one another, perhaps a few frames apart, to create a 'rippling' sort of effect. Unfortunately they all proved too distinctive and the effort proved futile. No combination of them seemed to work. I then sampled a few character voices hoping that something throaty and rough might be combined with these sounds to conceal the origin, but again no voices seemed to work.
I then chanced upon Sound Effect #55 - Flying Attack vs Downed Opponent. Somehow I'd missed this during my initial sound test - perhaps because it was towards the back - but the sound of it was perfect for a fart. It begins with a low vibration which sounds like a sharp trump but ends with a distinctive plastic 'clap' sort of sound, like somebody slamming two yoghurt pots together. I needed a way of disguising that sound. After a few attempts I settled for Poison Mist.
It's not perfect, but here is my formula:
Apply the sound effect "55 - Flying Attack vs Downed Opponent" to the first farting frame of animation.
Apply sound effect "30 - Poison Mist" approximately 10 "TM"'s later. This conceals the yoghurt pot sound.
It's not perfect but I believe it's the best possible without Mods, although you... *points steepled fingers are you* ...may wish to experiment with Sound Effect 55 further. A character voice screaming in relief or making an "eurgh!" sound may better disguise the yoghurt pots.
I have used Poison MIst to mimic the famous fart, but I shall experiment with your suggestion of combining it with sound effect 55 - Flying Attach vs Downed Opponent.
We are, in essence, looking for The People’s Fart. An everyman’s fart which allows ignorant noobs and grizzled veterans alike to simply download a custom move and become flatulent to their farts content.
Having researched various other combinations at great length, it seems that this indeed is the way forward. I thank you, Sir.
In due course I shall apply the above formula to my many fart-related moves and taunts. But for now, Sir, 'tis the Saturday eve before Easter and I am a bit drunk!! I lie about the "a bit" part.
