"Well for what it's worth Kenny omega messaged the company that was formally known as AKI so maybe something is In the works."
- People have approached syn Sophia about licensing the AKI engine and they wanted a king's ransom for it.
- Nearly everybody that worked on the old AKI wrestling games is gone from the company.
- syn Sophia isn't staffed to work on a large scale modern title.
So unless Tony Khan is willing to pony up millions of dollars and can use his connections to find a publisher/developer that's willing to do the heavy lifting to bring the engine up to date, it's bleak.
I would be okay with that.

The wwe owens the rights too
Cody Rhodes
Goldust
Chris Jericho
Adam Cole
And anyone else who decided to jumpship
Vince would charge billions in rights and if cody decides to make it without those rights he would get slammed with heaps of Copyright's.
Cody isn't using Cody Rhodes so no issues there unless he tries to portray himself in his old WWE ring attire or use the same ring or move names he used in WWE.
I'm guessing the same goes with everyone else. WWE may own the rights to most things that were created in the WWE but they do not own the rights for the individuals to appear in videos games in perpetuity...so I'm sure as long as they avoid WWE branded names, gimmicks, and move names there's not much WWE could do.
