I've been using Cool Text for a while now as well. Really good tool for making some nice custom logos. I just made a Japanese wrestling fed using it, and I'm loving the results. I was thinking of uploading it at some point once I get my roster of original caws all set up.

If you want to make some logos, just go into powerpoint, pick some font and then grab a picture/pattern you like and fill the text with it.

For Photoshop users, I recommend checking out dafont.com. Which has thousands of custom, free-to-use fonts available.

For text effects in Photoshop, a good place to start is the blending tools options. Which can add gradients, colour overlays, shiny letters (bevel), outer glow among other effects.
