My guide to the styles in FPWW
Orthadox : A standard Pro Wrestler basically. They have no particular strengths or weaknesses. They just get C’s and D’s on pretty much every move

Wrestlers who should be given this style if you create them. Kenta Kobashi, Jun Akiyama, Toshika Kawada, Hiroyoshi Hase, Arn Anderson, Barry Windham , Greg Valentine, Brutus Beefcake

Technician : This is the japanese definition pretty much for what constitutes a “technical wrestler”. This is quite a good style. They get A’s or B’s on pretty much any technical move (small package ect) and basic high flying moves. They get D’s and E’s though on rough house moves or raw strength moves.

Mitsuhiro Misawa, Tatsumi Fujinami, Ric Flair (when babyface), Ted Dibiase (when babyface), Brett Hart, Ricky Steamboat, Tito Santana, Curt Hennig

Wrestling = Give this style to a pro wrestler who comes from a Freestyle or Grecco-Roman wrestling background. They get A’s on all suplex maneuvers . But only get average or poor grades on any other type of move.

Kurt Angle, Gary Albright, Dan Severn (when a pro wrestler), Steve Williams, Alexander Karelin, early Rick and Scott Steiner

Ground : This style is boring!!!. I havent given this style to a single fictional CAW of my own. They get A’s on any submission or wear down hold on a grounded opponent, and B’s on any pins or moves designed to take an opponent to the mat and keep them there. Dont get this style confused with the style that Royce Gracie did in early UFC’s, you should give Grappler to him.

Yoshiaki Fujiwara , Osami Kido, Jim Breaks, George Kid, Les Kellet (cant think of anymore)

Power : Give this style to a wrestler that has an obvious size and strength advantage, who likes to use it. Power wrestlers get A’s on all raw power moves, B’s on rough house moves, but average or poor on any other move.

Kensuke Sasaki, Akira Taue, Scott Norton, Undertaker, Ultimate Warrior, Hulk Hogan, Braun Strowman, Hawk and Animal

American : This style was introduced into the series on Fire Pro Wrestling G on the ps1. This as its name suggests, is your typical WWE/TNA heavyweight style. They get decent grades on power and rough house and heel moves. And they dont do too bad on basic technical and basic high flying moves.

Macho Man Randy Savage, Randy Orton, Sting, Tripple H, The Rock

Junior Heavyweight : This is for your typical NJPW junior heavyweight style. A good style to pick for any wrestler under 215lbs. They get A’s and B’s on any technical, high flying or martial arty type move. But get average or poor on anything else.

Jushin Lyger, Shinjiri Otoni, Koji Kanemoto, Hakushi , Eddie and Chavo Guererro, Finn Balor, Matt and Jeff Hardy

Luchador = This style is pretty much for any wrestler who wrestles in the mexican lucha libre style, which is a very speedy and high flying style. They will get A’s on all high flying moves, B’s and C’s on technical moves, and thats about it, otherwise they get D’s and E’s on everything else. Luchadores will backward sommersalt their way out of being thrown into a corner when on small damage.

Rey Mysterio Jnr, Psychosis, Juventud Guerrera , Sin Carra, Super Calo, Jody Fleisch

Heel = Give this style basically to any wrestler that is a heel and relies much on cheating and dirty moves. Heels get A’s on all illegal and dirty moves. They get B’s on any rough house/punishing type move, but thats about it. They also get boo’ed whenever they pose.

Ric Flair when heel certainly comes to mind here.

Mysterious = This style was created pretty much with only The Great Muta in mind. This style seems to combine Technician and Heel (and get graded accordingly). This style isnt too bad tho, i have given this to a few of my own fictional CAW’s. This could be the Japanese Strong Style style.

The Great Muta, and possibly Shinske Nakimura

Shooter = This style is not for pro wrestlers, its intended for MMA fighters. Give an MMA fighter this style instead of Grappler, if their bread and butter is in Judo or Freestyle, Grecco Roman, Catch or Submission wrestling. Because Shooters get B’s on Judo and Wrestling type takedowns, where as Grapplers get only D’s or E’s for them.

Kazushi Sakuaraba, Nobihiko Takada, Kyoshi Tamura, Josh Barnett, Ken and Frank Shamrock, Matt Hughes

Fighter = This style is not for pro wrestlers. Its intended for Boxers, Kickboxers and MMA fighters who’s bread and butter is in their striking. This style has improved over the years in FP, because Fighters now get C’s for chokeholds, and D’s for some submission holds, where in the past they only got E’s for them. Obviously Fighters get A’s on all non pro wrestling style strikes.

Anderson Silva, Chuck Liddell, Kimbo Slice, Cro Cop, Mark Hunt

Grappler = Give this style for a typical MMA fighter, especially ones who’s main bread and butter is in jujitsu type submissions. Grapplers get A’s for any non pro wrestling type strike, and jujitsu type submission holds. But they get D’s and E’s for pretty much anything else.

Royce Gracie, Frank Mir, Damien Mia, Fabricio Werdum, Donald Cerrone, Micky Gall, Matt Sera, Tony Fergason

Panther : This style was created with only Tiger Mask in mind. This style combines Luchadore and Fighter.

Tiger Mask, Great Sasuke

Giant : This style was created pretty much with only Andre the Giant and Giant Baba in mind. Giants dont get high grades on much. From what ive seen they only gets A’s and B’s on chops, palm strikes, headbuts and chokeholds, and thats pretty much it. Give this style to huge massive wrestlers who purely rely on their size and weight. Up until Fire Pro Returns, Giants could never be slammed, but now they can if you beat them up for a bit first. Until FP Returns, i never gave any of my CAW’s this style, because that perk was too much of an unfair advantage in simmed matches. Plus its highly unrealistic that someone like Rey Mysterio Jnr has a better chance in beating Andre the Giant than Ultimate Warrior does, just beccause he doesnt do any lifting moves.

Andre the Giant (of course), Giant Baba, Kamala , Yokozuna, King Kong Bundy, Big Daddy, Giant Haystacks, Haystacks Calhuon

Vicious : Another style created again with only one wrestler in mind…..Antonio Inoki. I havent given this style to any of my own fictional CAW’s, as they dont get many grades above C for any move.

Antonio Inoki ……..and thats all i can think of lol

Actually Dr. Death Steve Williams is POWER not Wrestling although he has a wrestling background in junior, high school and the University of Oklahoma and does alot of Suplexes & Backdrops.

Really appreciate this breakdown and the fact it includes some handy names I recognize. What about Return Skill and who should get what and how exactly it works tho? 🤔

Ric Flair actually isn't a great example for the Heel style; he's closer to American style with a Heel Return style (Flair could actually wrestle). If anything, it better fits those wrestlers who could only rely on dirty moves and foul play; someone like Abdullah The Butcher.

Heels being booed when posing is an unfortunate mechanic that Spike tied directly to a style, instead of making it a separate option.

Yeah i agree, it would of been better if, choosing whether the crowd cheer or boo the wrestler when they pose, was a separate option. Return style i believe is to do with how the wrestler will counter moves (as there are many counters in the game). For example, when it comes to countering a powerbomb attempt, a Power guy will just back body drop their way out of it, where as a Technician, Jnr Heavyweight and Luchadore, will either DDT or hurricane rama their way out of it. And a Shooter or Grappler, would probably slap on a triangle choke. Heels usually eye gouge their way out of moves.

When it came to wrestler examples of each style, yeah, i tried to mix in Japanese and western wrestler examples.
