And also, it isn't just about simming CPU against CPU.. people, like myself, put a majority of our time into creating wrestler after wrestler and carefully placing in the most accurate logic, simming matches to test if they're gotten right. So comparing it to the WWE Network is a bit absurd... because we're not watching just for nothing.
1./4?
The Promoter mode DLC seems to be what you are looking for. It seems to cover the problem I am noticing here. Upgrading may be story mode(s). However I am not sure of this.
2.
I dId not know of this! maybe set match speed to 800 if you are able.
3. Tables to not exist in the game. It cannot be done in the engine. However with the CarlZilla modsuite you can have 30-100-150 battleroyales.
5.
There is a small online community. I had this very issue. This came seems to be largely in its online community. FPWARENA.come seems to be where I found the actual "game".
I dont think you are doing it wrong. Its just that people seem to be elsewhere.
In regards to this game, wait for the promoter and New Japan DLC to come out. Watch videos of others playing he DLC before you get something you don't want. Unfortunately, there are no other games upcoming that have those features.
This game is a dream come true for me. I've been playing wrestling video games since the 80s, I always wanted a game like this. I can put what ever and as many Wrestlers as I want in the game. I can make any federation I want; real or made up. I can put me and my friends in the game and run our own federations. Someone wins the title they keep the title until someone beats them, it tracks their wins. The fighting mechanics is second to none.
Fire Pro Wrestling Worlds and Fire Pro Wrestling Returns are 2 of the best wrestling games ever made imo.
Sometimes less is more then you could ever want.
It's more about creating your own experiences with custom rosters, rings, etc and playing solo tbh. The features are there to create your own stories/federations etc, it's just not in one big mode yet.
For example, you would like a mode that allows you to earn edit points as you work through a promotion and eventually win a title; you can do that now with random selection, a custom roster and some personal rules on how points are earned based on wins; eventually you can challenge a determined champion for the title.
And the mods available pretty much make it a completely different game; you can find just about anything with mods. Want a booking mode that tracks stats and create match cards over-time? There's a mod for that.
With all that being said, it's not for everyone. Maybe a game with more set features and modes would be a better choice.
lotta people dont realize this is mainly played as a sim due to the in depth cpu logic... if youre looking for career mode or playable online this isnt for you. the game is pretty bare bones in that respect.
so either return in a year and see if you like any DLC or stick to wwe2k.
Crying? Looking for sympathy? Not at all!
I think it is a good game, I just feel like it needs a couple of extra things to be even better and it is frustrating that a few of them are relatively simple things that are missing.
If this had some form of career mode I would probably never get anything else done!
Simming matches on my own doesnt really do a lot for me, however I have spent a good amount of time simming matches online and really enjoyed it, it is just unfortunate that too often I search for an online game with no luck. I met somebody in the chat the other night and we talked about wrestling and essentially booked a card. We had four 95% or above matches in a row, including a 100% match and were both marking out after. Creating experiences is always better when you share them with someone IMO.
I've just found the mods by Carlzilla and so I may have a play around with them to see what I can do to further my enjoyment of the game.
a lot of people are looking for some wwe thq game with 1000 game modes... thats not what this is. its essentially an indie game for a niche fanbase... its gonna be BARE BONES.
if youre looking for more wait for DLC
I think this game does more than one thing well actually, I quite enjoy playing the actual matches, my only bugbear with it is that whether I win or lose, or get 100% match rating does not matter. I want to be rewarded I guess.
Like I said, I've enjoyed simming online vs other peoples creations as I find the social aspect of that enjoyable.
Phantom speaks the truth.
The whole point of Fire Pro Wrestling World is simming. There is nothing like making two edits, give them a moveset and logic, then watching them put on a 5 star match.
There is sooooo much that one can do with Fire Pro Wrestling World.
Wanna have a boxing match? Done.
Wanna have see Connor McGregor take on Floyd Mayweather in the octagon? Done.
Wanna see the Greatest Royal Rumble? With Carl's mod, it can be done.
This game is not meant to play online. Like everyone else said, simming is where it's at. If you want to see your edit vs. someone else's, download that person's edit and sim the match offline.
I hope you continue to give Fire Pro Wrestling World a chance, Monk. Got any questions, feel free to ask :-)
Thanks for the kind words, Timberwolf.
I'm up to 37 hours played, so it's fair to say i'm giving it a chance!
I've also made a couple of friends from playing online and we are having great fun booking cards. I pick a wrestler, they pick somebody they think will make a good match with that guy and we see how it plays out. The fun part comes in discussing the match afterwards and the parts that made us say "wow". I think I would miss that if simming alone.
There were four of us simming battle royales tonight at one point too. If you get together with like minded individuals then simming online is great fun IMO. This game has a fantastic community, which is why I guess i'm surprised there arent many people going online.
If anyone reading this wants to join in and do some online simming with us please add me as a friend.
Regarding actually playing of the game, I've set up a league which is essentially the best guys from WWF in the 1980s. I've cranked up the difficulty and am attempting to win it with my Hogan edit.
Whilst simming might be "where its at", I feel also enjoy the actual gameplay aspect and would love to see it fleshed out a bit more. Phantom said the game does "one thing", but I feel thats doing the game a slight disservice, as it works fine as a fighting game too!
I guess I'm just slightly dissappointed that the game has a lot of potential that is currently unfulfilled, but I look forward to future DLC/mods that build on what currently exists.
It could also be a clever way of referring to a Royal Rumble match without using a WWE-copyrighted term. With New Japan having their January 4 1-Minute Rambo--I mean Rumble matches before the start of Wrestle Kingdom proper, it might be a worthwhile addition. Not only that, but the mod suite made by Carlzilla also includes a rumble match with effectively infinite competitors now, so it's not something that the engine they built can't handle!
Too old fashioned, if we want to freshen things up clearly we need the WWE gimmick matches!
Seriously though, I would take an actual team gauntlet elimination mode. Put a team of wrestlers together, 1v1 matches until a team runs out of opponents.
