I like the fact they're 2 different games, I wouldn't want them to be the same they can borrow from each other, like Fire Pro should have injuries that stay and more state tracking; and Revolution should have AI Logic in edit mode. I haven't really plated the career mode in Revolution but from the little bit I payed it just felt like the same stuff from those WWE games (Not fun for me).
I personally don't want Fire Pro to have a career or story mode, I feel like it's not needed. Stat tracking, yes, give us that, but I don't want a story or career I have to follow, I like to make my own stories and set up matches. I never liked that stuff in the WWE games and I don't like it now.
I've played MDickies wrestling games for a few years now and I've really enjoyed them, thought they aren't without their flaws.
Here is a brief review of sorts:
I really like the No Mercy Aki style of wrestling game that takes me back to my youth, coupled with amount of different matches you can do, the menu for the match rules is awesome, and there are almost a limitless number of match types you can create. I did a 30 man timed battle royale where the only way to eliminate somebody was to put them through a table.
I also like the idea of the career mode, start at Wrestling School, have stints at different promotions and try to ammass a lot of money over your career. Not having creative control when you start can be funny, when you find out your badass creation has had an awful gimmick bestowed upon them! On the flipside, you will get offered movie roles and opportunities to advertise products which boost your bank balance and popularity. It's not afraid to shy away from the darker side of wrestling too, as you'll be offered steroids to boost your stats and painkillers to help recover from injury, but risk side affects including suspension and illness.
The different promotions you wrestle for have different expectations too, so a more traditional, technical based promotion won't like it if you take every match outside and smash people with weapons. You'll soon get a reputation as an unsafe worker if you injure other wrestlers too often, which makes it harder to get work later on.
It's got a promoter mode too, where the objective is to book 5 star matches which you can play in yourself or simulate. If you play you can switch sides throughout the match to make it even and tell your own story. You can set up pre match promos and in match interference and run ins so that fueds can be created, which help matches overall ratings. Whilst you're the booker, you're not the owner, so you'll get missions to do. I had Vince call me in his office and told me to get the title off of Stone Cold, I've also been told to sign more female talent, get the wage bill down to certain levels or sign a certain wrestler from another promotion. Putting on 5 star matches will increase the popularity of your promotion and earn you more money.
However, with all that said it does have some significant flaws, some of the animations arent the best and it can be quite buggy at times. It'll do really strange and annoying things from time to time.
For the amount the game costs it is worth giving it a try. It's an OK game with a certain amount of charm to it. Considering one guy made it in his bedroom 10 years ago and it's more or less the same game its quite an achievement.
In a perfect world though I would probably take Fire Pro's match engine and the workshop, and add WR3D's career and promoter modes to it to make what I would define as my ideal wrestling game.
My favorite has to be being able to hold the strike button to hold your strike before throwing it. That tiny detail changes the presentation of a match so much and no other wrestling game has done it as far as I know. It's just so satifying to ♥♥♥♥ back a punch and wait until your opporent turns around to throw it. Or to change the tempo of your wrestler stomping a downed opponent.
But it's way too much of a slog to deal with for any long period of time. As much as MDickie has based his identity around solo game devolpment, his games would be so much better if he'd put together a competent team that could impliment all of his ideas. It wouldn't even have to be a big team. Like 2 extra people could turn it from an entertaining mess to a legitmatiely good game with the right direction.
It's not a total mess, its quite fun and playable, but there are some messy aspects to it.
Voodoo sums it up pretty well, I can't sit there and play it for hours and hours on end.

It's what I've been saying about his games since I've played his wonky games when they were only on his website. They are so clunky and I end up stop playing what might be a really fun experience a lot sooner than I would if the game was more polished.
Also, using the game engine he's using is really doing him no favors. Honestly, if he got a team, and worked on redoing the game in Unity, he would end off with an awesome game that might actually be a really fun experience.
