Unfortunately whilst the game does let you remap buttons it doesn't let you map SML+MED to a button, but as suggested you could use controller emulation software (Steam has the ability, I personally use a program called Antimicro) the game only uses one of the trigger/second shoulder buttons which leaves one free you could map it to.
You should map it to L2 because all the other buttons are used by default. You can see this if you find a button guide.
The thing is, for example i'm trying to hit a Cutter (non-grapple one) i must move fast and keep the position, i know that i'm really bad at pressing to two different buttons at the same time so i'm panicking and everything gets ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up, now the whole match build-up is ♥♥♥♥♥♥ because i messed up my final move. I wanted to prevent this.
