Yes, females have been in the series for years now and we've already seen a couple in action in some of the gameplay vids.

I don't see why there wouldn't be. Previous FPW has had female wrestlers and refs, so to not include them would be a step backwards on the part of the dev.

I have a follow-up question then to people who have played past versions. Can women wrestle with men, or does picking a woman lock out male options? This is something I never understood, because if fighting games can let Zangief fight R.Mika, I don't get why video game wrestling can't let go of their taboo of letting men wrestle women.

No lock out whatsoever. This isn't a WWE game. I think the reason why the WWE does it is they are afraid of parents seeing their kids deciding to be a male wrestler and beat up one of the divas and having complaints.

There are these guys I follow on Youtube, newLEGACYinc. Their videos are silly but they really respect wrestling. Anyway, they've run several FPW matches with intergenders, so it should be possible. Again, it depends on how the devs did this game, if they included it or not. But nL ran a 'Valentines Day" team tournament, having wrestlers and their girlfiends/signifigant others/diva friends compete. So it should be possible.

Right here. Males and Females wrestling together in FPWR. Assuming the devs didn't take it away for FPWW, you'll have your intergender matches.
