RAGE 2
This game uses the terrible Apex game engine
If you preorder and it runs like crap and crashes constantly, it's going to be your fault.

You would have been far better off trying to pass Wolfenstein II The New Colossus off as an openworld game, but it's not.

Wolfenstien runs on rails. Enemy Territory: Quake Wars does not, you can go anywhere in a given map once certain parts are opened by the team (usually an objective)

I was talking about id tech and back in the day they were the largest maps id tech engine was doing at the time and yes during a match you could go anywhere that was open without restriction. Many RPGs you can't travel everywhere under you unlocked certain routes which are no different than ETQW objectives. You could also argue the first rage was open world as well. The witcher games are considered open world, but ETQW maps were bigger than the areas yo could explore in witcher 1 and 2, but not 3.
It does come down to more than the map size as well. With RPGs there is many systems that are not present in an engine like idtech 6 and would have taken lots of time and money to build. Such as vehicles, a good RPG progression upgrade tree with a loot/upgrade system, being able to track many quests at the same time or just a questing system in general, citys with lots of NPCs walking around, just lots of stuff IDtech6 was no built for. Any open world game that ran on idtech5 like say Rage had terrible performance issues.

Apex engine is an engine. It has nothing to do with apex legends.

ETQW didn't have performance issues and it came years before Rage. ETQW was the first id tech game to have megatexures and it allowed for seemless play between indoor and outdoor areas. ETQW also had RPG elements, as you gain XP in ETQW you upgrade you level via rank and upgrade your abilities. For example at level 4 the medic gets full heath revive and the engineer gained self arming mines and you also weapon upgrades as well. The weapon upgrades depend on the weapons used and your proficiency in them.

Apex is the name of Avalanche's propriety engine, previously named avalanche engine. Any game made by Avalanche is using the Apex engine. Mad Max, Just Cause 2, 3, and 4, these are all apex engine games.

the next person who thinks apex engine = apex legends needs to slap their face with a spoon 3 times.

You cant recall the game being fps locked and netcode tied to 30fps? And if you unlocked the 30fps on mp, player movement/animation and netcode was still tied to 30fps. Ok then.

If you unlocked the FPS (com_unlockFPS 1) you also needed com_unlock_timingMethod 0 and r_useThreadedRenderer 1 set and you didn't have any movement issues. A lot of players didn't know that, or ran machines that could not run the game. I ALWAYS had a high end machine during those days and saw ZERO problem with movement. I played the game fr years from the time of the demo until the time windows 8 came out. The REAL limiting factor in the game was the user's internet connection, if you had several users on the server with 225+ ping the server would lag and the only fix was to kick them.

Here's a list of tweaks that you probably didn't know about.

Never played "the Hunter."The current form of ID is nothing like it used to be all famous talent is gone and they are nothing but a glorified studio that is own by Zenimax. The last few Wolfenstein games were not even made by ID.

Their last big game was DOOM which was one of their best ever so clearly you’re wrong there.

Also the only Wolfenstein game id ever made was Wolfenstein3D, pretty much all the others were made by other studios.

Generation Zero runs the same engine I believe. It looks amazing. Just pray there is an option to disable CA in Rage 2.

Because ID is only making Doom games right now. Wolfenstien series was picked up by another developer. Rage 2 is being comade by id and avalanch studios. They are using avalanch's engine because its better designed for openworld which ID tech's engine is not.

It has nothing to do with ID not having any talent (what ever that means lol)

Doom Eternal will be on ID Tech engine and is being made by ID. Stop kneejerking.

No, it's not going to be my fault. It's going to be the devs/publisher fault.
Also refound is possible.
