Deep Rock Galactic
I don't understand why RC would flop
People just hate on Rogue Core because it is a spin off? People hate on devs because they want to move on and work on a different thing? Or is it not getting an invitation to playtest?
Rogue Core will still be DRG but more fast pace and with roguelike elements.
I think that the only way Rogue Core will dramatically flop is if people call it bad and hate on it

"Roguelike" is enough of a label for me to not care what happens to it.

ok, that's your opinion. But I still don't understand why would it be trash

OK. It's not labeled as "Roguelike" though except in the buried user tags because it's not a "Roguelike."

If you want a real answer, OP, it's because the lobby mechanics are the same as Deep Dives' and there are like maybe 200 people actually bothering with that headache at any given time in DRG.
Rogue Core is the enemy, Classic DRG forever.

I think is more the fact people want to see DRG continue and strong. Its fair the devs want to try new proyects, ideas and more forms of income to support the company.

I still prefer the DRG formula than the other 2 games for what they seem but Im sure they might appeal and hook othet players.

But again, as long DRG dont die because of those games (wich it might do or slow down even more, who knows?), I only care for DRG and hope things workout for the devs anyway.

It not necessarily would be trash. Some people like those things. I'm just stating that I'm largely inidfferent to RC's existence. If it works, devs will have more resources to keep DRG trundling along. If it isn't, they will have to come running back to DRG. Win-win.
Personally I'm just gonna go ahead and buy it day one of early access and probably play it over DRG just to signal that I'm all done with new hats and collectathons every 2 years
I tend to enjoy roguelikes and some -lites, but I do have to wonder if the DRG framework is really going to gel with that concept particularly well. Still though, it's a co-op roguelite, and I'm more than willing to support GSG for the work and ethics they've displayed over the years.

In all honesty I'm probably still going to stick with OG DRG for the most part, but I still wish the guys the best of luck in trying out new things.
personally, i think the audience feels disrespected. we've seen DRG's limitless potential be squandered over the years as GSG chose to prioritize seasonal events and cosmetics over meaningful improvements to the core gameplay loop. so much time and effort wasted on disposable filler content, even when the developers gave themselves plenty of avenues for easy expansion (not least of which being weapon overclocks)

rogue core itself was announced at the worst possible time. we were right off the back of season 4, a genuinely terrible update and the lowest point DRG ever reached quality-wise, and now GSG were telling us they were going to start an entirely new project. even disregarding concerns over what was going to happen with DRG, it's clear that RC's development has not been smooth. almost a full year of silence followed its announcement, and we're only now seeing the game in a closed alpha state, with the early access launch having been delayed twice now. none of us work at GSG so it's not really fair to speculate on what's going on behind the scenes, but there's plenty reason to be worried

no one in their right mind should want rogue core to fail because that's just childish, but i honestly don't blame people for giving rogue core the cold shoulder. it's clear GSG no longer cares about doing what their audience wants and are entirely self-motivated. they have every right to do what they want, of course but when so many of their actions have been questionable over the last few years it's no wonder confidence is low in RC

You will come crawling back once DRG releases new hats.
I think they just did a pretty poor job with marketing/hyping it up, with playtesting being overly restrictive, and that combined with the fact that they basically completely abandoned DRG (except for that one update that made the official mod loader even worse) has kinda left a bad impression on me

I do think it could be a pretty cool game, but I think not giving any sort of update (even qol) to drg is probably the biggest reason why so many people seem to be negative about it.
I think it’s crucial to point out that being skeptical or not being a new fan of a shift in direction for game design does not immediately constitute as “hating”. I’ve seen many fair criticisms and concerns over where RC is going and simply labeling it as hate is fairly bad faith interpretation and unproductive. Sure there’s people who hate on it just to hate but those are easily discernible from the rest.

Time will tell but if it just doesn’t draw in a crowd like DRG, then oh well. Just as on the other end, it could potentially be the next big thing.
