Does Repellant Foam actually work?

I've been spraying some in just a few spots on the ground during the final Drilldozer stage and during the "guard you spot" parts of Salvage Mission. Just a few spots or areas - I'm a not making lines that the bugs can't walk around if they wanted to - not even close.

But it seem like the bugs just go straight across them as if they're not even there. They don't seem to repel the bugs in the slightest.

So, does it actually do something normally? Is there sometimes else I could be doing to make it work better? I definitely have Repellant selected.

Pretty sure (like 95%+ sure) that this includes missions where I'm hosting, and it includes times when the foam's be laying there a full minute or more before the bug casually stroll across it instead of walking a little bit to either side to go around it. It includes single platforms as well as when I do things like make a line of three platforms all touching each other.

If I suspected otherwise, I might try to whack Molly with the pickaxe everytime she parks herself on wall at a height too high for me to deposit into her. But I don't suspect she can learn, so I'm not going to bother.

Sadly, with your post history, I can't tell if you are kidding, or if you legit hit dogs with a pickaxe.

Well, most people don't have a pickaxe laying around the house. A stick is more likely. But the object is not the point, the beating is.

But out of curiosity, is there anyone specific who you consider to be "most people", or did you mean "<fill-in-anyone's-name-or-handle-here> isn't most people"?

Repellent is great for funneling the bugs, but you have to leave an opening for them to funnel through. If you don't want them bothering you from an above ledge, make a platform overhang and they'll come at you from the sides, as long as you aren't also standing on a platform.

Actually you can stand on a platform, without negating other platforms; it just negates the one you're standing on.

My biggest issue with Repellant Additive is that for it to be useful, you have to fire even more platforms than normal, but with less ammo than you'd have otherwise. The platform gun already runs out of ammo way before all of my weapons, and I'm not wasting a resupply for just platforms.

The effect radius is much bigger than the physical platform, so you don't really need that many.

Your typical panic defense "roof" takes like 4-6 plats.

I never run out of platform ammo, can't see why anyone would need more personally.

I play solo 80% of the time. You need a lot more platforms solo.
