least favorite: ossuary depths.
i do not like the aestetic and fog, the room layouts are too messy and not fun to navigate, the enemies are unbalanced for higher hazards.

most favorite: none, they are all great. even hollow bough.
all biomes are balanced and fun to play. exept for ossuary.
Fav: Sandblasted corridors, for wide open spaces and clear shots with little visual spam to distract from bugspotting.

Least fav: hollow bough, for being the opposite of those things

I'd like Ossuary Depths more if it didn't have consistently worse FPS than any other biome.
favorite : Hollow Bought, lots of things to interact with, very fun
least favorite : sand, boring af... needs more unique stuff, shark and wind is not enough. also more interesting topology like canyons, quicksand (even though I dunno how they would do it)

I wish they added stuff to/reworked the old biomes after releasing azure weald and hollow bough

have asked this question to dozens of player, 80% of the time it's sand/hollow bough like TacocaT. imo they associate favorite with easyness "I can dig in one hit" "no clutter" etc, not saying they're not entitled to their preference but I'm glad we have challenging and complex biomes that requires more than low-effort magdumping
Fav aesthetically: Azure Weald, Fav practically: Sandblasted, Leas Fav: fungus bog
Fave: sandblasted for ez mode and lava, because it's usually well lit up.
Least fave: Ice biome, because of constant snow storms, can't see jack and can't move much.
hot take: sandblasted corridors is extremely overrated

everyone glazes it constantly because of the 1-hit terrain but there arent many situations where that's useful. the only thing i can think of is how it makes dirt 1-hit as well, but that's probably a bug
for any situations where you need to dig extensively youre just gonna get driller to do it, and he doesn't care about the hardness of terrain

meanwhile those giant black rock spires, the one thing in the biome you usually want to dig out because they block sightlines, take three(!) hits to break

the wind tunnels suck, if you get caught in one there's no escaping it until it ends. dash and unstoppable dont work, support tools (sans grapple) don't work, you just sit there and eat ♥♥♥♥. and it doesn't work on the bugs, of course

the sandstorms are atrocious, they show up out of nowhere and there's nothing you can do about them until they're over. and, again, they don't affect the bugs because of course they don't. you just get stuck at half-speed, unable to sprint, unable to see any further than ~10m
scout can still grapple or spowder but since he can't see anything it's not a good idea to do so

every other biome has ways of mitigating its negative features, and some can even be used to your advantage, like magma core hot rock making you move faster. there's nothing about sandblasted which is helpful except for the 1-hit terrain which is never useful in practice

i avoid this biome like the plague, especially on modded diffs because if a sandstorm appears during a swarm its just an instant failure. even if you're in a good position macteras/menaces will just hide in the spawn and snipe you. very cool and fun
Fave: Radioactive zone

nice looking biome, it's map hazard isn't super overwhelming or obnoxious to play around, the praetorians there are honestly less annoying than regular praetorians, and the enemies resisting radiation dmg means you generally get less fat boy engies

most hated: Sandblasted corridors

for me it was a tie between sandblasted and hollow bough, but I think sandblasted takes the win (or I guess loss?)
trawlers are annoying as hell, sandstorms are extremely unfun, I agree with Kestrel that the 1-hit terrain does not justify it's extremely painful drawbacks
My favorite is Fungus Bogs, I like the atmosphere, the two-hit terrain is nice, and there's the funny mushroom. I like its color palette with the greens and browns, and all the fungus everywhere really gives it a unique identity.

My least favorite is Azure Weald, low visibility, way too many plants and vines clogging an already low amount of ambient light. I also really don't like the color palette, the purples, and blues don't really go together too well in my opinion.

I'll always avoid a mission if it's in Azure Weald.
All time favourite would be Salt Pits. It's chill, it has nice minerals, it's usually not too hard to explore, and the walls reflect flare really well.
Close seconds would be Crystalline Cavern and Radioactive Exclusion Zone.
A special mention for Shallow Grotto.

Biomes which I don't mind playing too much even if the environment can be annyoing sometimes (relatively chill): Azure Weald, Fungus Bogs (unless there's a Driller with a flamethrower), Magma Core, Sandblasted Corridors, Ossuary Depths.
With a special mention for Azure Weald, because the ambient lighting greatly helps to see where I'm going.

Biomes I hate whenever I have to play them: Dense Biozone, Glacia Strata, Hollow Bough.

Unless I'm just playing on Hazard 3 and below, in which case I don't care either way.
I don't have a clear favorite, but I think I can reasonably say that my least favorite is Hollow Bough. So many obnoxious things trying to kill you everywhere - and stabber vines, the one I find to be the absolute worst of them, don't even bother to have visible health bars.
Favorite is the Dense Biozone. It's nearly as pretty as the Azure Weald (without the poor visibility), doesn't have any obnoxious natives, and tends to not have wonky terrain generation.

Least favorite is the Hollow Bough, for the exact opposite reasons. Also not a fan of the Bungus Fogs, but I'll take that over stabber vines and tunnels filled with sketchy-hitbox thorn-tentacles.

fav sand stuff or salt pits

least: azure weald which has great visuals but these also always keep distracting and make it harder to deal with the danger, the biome with toxic mushrooms are also annoying but looks cool, same goes for the lava stuff, while it is super hard to dig without driller and every explosion turn floor into lava
My favorite is Salt Pits. It looks nice, has two hit terrain, and is generally really open.

My least favorite is Dense Biozone. It looks ugly, the giant, almost sphere like rooms make the biome nigh untraversable for anyone but Scout, the coral is real ugly and gets in the way, the elevator plants get in the way, and to top it all off, it has shockers, one of the worst enemies in the game.

Though Hollow Bough is also pretty bad, as it's really cramped, has a ton of vines and weird wooden tube things blocking everything, and it has corpse feeders, which aren't very nice for someone with trypophobia.
Favorite? Sandblasted, partly cuz its easy to mine through, its usually wide and open....though the wind gusts are annoying, been thrown 500 miles down a hole more than once from that. Most the biomes are fine.

LEast favorite? Shooooo......got a few tied for least favorite.

Ossuary, cuz those bugs are ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ annoying as hell, tough, no, just annoying, always got bugs nibbling on your toes.

Azure Weald, its a nightmare to navigate, its dark, its annoying, often has some really wild layouts, with huge drops and surprise falls to nowhere

Hollow Bough, I hate this map for alot of the same reasons as Azure Weald, but then throw in the spiky walls, those wall things with the knives, and the general layouts of the zones making falling a real hazard......just another really annoying biome I dont enjoy getting on.

Fungus Bog is annoying as fuuuuu when it gets covered in that sticky snaring goo.....
