would also love to reload clips by whacking the guns back to my sides like in a couple other VR shooters, Alyx has been a bit fiddly and unrewarding when it comes to guns so far.
The guns are so fiddly but it made me panic so much in the dark and those damn headcrabs jumping about!
Hope that helps!
ALSO theres the fact that i cant just switch hands. wtf happened to alyx that she can only hold the guns with one hand. the ammo can be picked up with either hand....
hopefully if they add a holster, just one on the hip for the weapon you are using, even if i have to use the menu to get it to pop into my holster that would be better.
the best way would be to have a holo thing pop up like im summoning the weapon to my holster.
i stopped to post this, so i havent seen how to reload yet, im assuming with a clip from your belt slots, right...... right.....
i really dont see how the brightest minds at valve didnt notice this, and im not being mean, im just very surprised. i mean its a 60 dollar game, heck even 5 dollar vr games have holsters and can switch gun hands on the fly.
also i cant put a bullet back into my magizine lol. anyways i hope that at the least they fix this glaring issue
edit.... how the hell did you drop the gun. its frigging magnetised to my hand
I keep reaching for ammo in my belt when I need to reload...
1.body holster
2.waist ammo dispenser
3.switching gun hands, be able to drop guns(oculus rift here)
4.weapon selection
also h3vr has the worst controls out of any vr gun shooting game, so i wouldnt say thats viable to compare. arcadey doesnt equal lack of options and poor design choices. i dont think anyone can defend the over shoulder ammo mechanic, thats just bad design, its exhuasting, and confusing. and the gunplay isnt arcadey, its manual reloading, with alot of emphasis on the physicality of it. the simulating part is there, its the Quality of life stuff that is missing, like not being able to drop your gun or switch hands is very limiting and sometimes frustrating, and clicking the stick to open the weapon menu is very unfreindly and feels awkward at best on oculus touch controllers. the made the game so one armed people can play it which is cool, but the mechanics for two handed players shouldnt suffer over it.
people said the mechanics in this were going to blow boneworks out of the water, and i said i doubt it, becuase the devs arent in touch with the vr community. i mean theres no sprint option at all with smooth locomotion, that shows they added it in last, which it should have been first.
i figured if your going to defend their bad mechanics instead of helping us try to get them fixed for everyone, then i would defend our position.
also where the ♥♥♥♥♥ a crowbar and flashlight.
People just need to lighten up and play the game as it was made instead of having weird expectations about every little thing. Not having an IK body, not having holsters, not having other insignificant features does not make a game unplayable. Just get used to different games having different features. I don't know why you would want every game to play the same in the first place.
grabbing ammo off your back is wierd, no game does it becuase its flat out wierd, its not realistic, its just plain wierd. you cant really defend that. i carry everyday, and never have i shoved ammo over my shoulder.
But that's not HL. The weapon selection works very well for me on the rift S.
And getting ammo from the backpack was also fast to pick up. And seems to work much more accurately then picking up mags from the hips.
The only down side is that when they went for a classic FPS weapons selection thing. They could have added more guns.
In fact, the Pistol is equipped by pressing the button and swinging up, so you're perfectly set-up for role playing exactly what you want, but here you are instead, complaining.
