Known Issues & workarounds
Hello,

sadly, it's very difficult to release a PC game without any issues on all configurations, especially if you try to optimize the rendering and add many new features at the same time. This thread gathers known issues and provides a set of workarounds, if available.

Overly blurry cutscenes
Problem:
On some systems (it appears to be only systems using an Intel GPU, and only some of them), the Depth-of-Field effect in cutscenes does not work correctly, resulting in an overly blurry image or other artifacts.
Status:
Resolved in version 1.1

Text problems during tutorials
Problem:
Text becomes currupted when a button prompt is included on some systems, if button prompts other than "Dualshock" are selected.
Status:
Resolved in version 1.1

Crashes on startup/when the game is trying to play a video
Problem:
When the game is trying to play a video (or on startup if the "skip intro" and "skip logos" options are not set) the game crashes.
Workaround / Solution:
This appears to be caused by some third party playback packages/filters, and can be solved by uninstalling them.
We have reports of it being fixed by uninstalling FFDshow. Also look for anything you have installed which mentions a "codec".
If all of this fails, as of version 1.1 you can also select the "skip all movies" option in the launcher as a final workaround.
Status:
Since it is caused by third-party software, it's difficult to reproduce and debug this issue.

In Windowed Mode, mouse is completely invisible, can't move the game window. any workaround for this ? +1

Can you add Borderless Windowed Mode ?

because Borderless Windowed Mode allows switching to other applications / desktop more efficiently, without stutters / screen flickering / resolution resetting / etc.

Windowed mode is also acceptable for me, but currently the Windowed mode hides the mouse cursor, and makes the game window unmovable, that is not good.

You can rebind L2 and R2 in the in-game Options.

These kinds of issues can be addressed universally with Special K. You can throw this or any other game into borderless window mode and then engage drag-lock mode Ctrl + Shift + Scroll Lock to move the window around even if the game's gone and hid the mouse cursor from you. You can also forcefully unhide and unrestrict the mouse cursor using a keyboard / gamepad-driven overlay if a game's being really stubborn with the mouse.

I've got every confidence that Durante will fix this, I just wanted to put this out there since you and quite a few other people seem pretty enthusiastic about borderless windows and there are tons of games that don't support them and have similar issues as you just described :)

I won't directly link to it here as I don't mean to self-promote or anything like that; if you're interested you can find this on my profile.

One thing I would point out is that I have addressed a few keyboard input and G-Sync problems in this game in the latest test version (0.8.30.3) of Special K. To my understanding Durante already knows about the keyboard issues and will have a fix. I actually came here to see how prevalent the issue was, but found most of the discussion revolving around mouse / borderless window issues :P

Yes, They were able to include the Japanese text as an option for those who wish to have it. You can find it in the configuration launcher.

List of things I've run across, in no particular order:

-Thumbstick axes are broken/not working properly. There's multiple threads about this, but basically, the games seems to have issue with diagonal movement on controllers.

-Dialogue text regularly overflows outside the boxes. Looks like it might be a scaling issue?

-In any instance where you can select the number of something, part of the up/down arrow above/below the numbers is covered up by the UI box behind it.

-Some animations play super fast. I don't think this will get fixed because it's probably tied to framerate, but it's there.

-Controller button icons have some scaling issues and can get blurry and (nitpicking), the Xbox controller icons are too dark. I (personally) liked the monochrome ones you had in the dialogue reveal trailer.

I think you can try disabling the intro and opening in the configuration launcher and see if that helps to avoid the crash?

No need to be hard on yourself, at least it's working now. :D

Had the problem that the screen just froze but sound and actually input continued (like I heard Rean's footsteps and the sound for entering the menu). This happened to me when first entering Trista.
After restarting, the game would run much more laggy and stuttery than before. Only restarting PC fixed this.
Later the biggest hiccup was when talking to the butler Klaus for the first time. The same problem triggered at the same spot every time: screen freezing, sounds and inputs continuing for a while at least.

Turning MSAA to none actually fixed this for now.

Update:
I've identified and fixed the text prompt issue. It will be resolved in the next version.
(Likely released within the next 24 hours from this post)
