starving and thirsty bug?
Do I do something wrong or a bug making game unplayable?
I had no problem with original clan. They learned hoe to drink and eat right away but got destroyed so I started anew. I can grab/scoop/inspect/smell but no option to eat or drink. I started different lineages and they all cannot eat or drink and starve to death. Playing keyboard

They won't feed themselves if they already have something in their right hand.

Also, the clan is self-sufficient when at the settlement (basically their hunger/thirst/sleep stats are frozen). They only need help eating and drinking when you take them out in the field.

IMHO the only time you should be travelling with your clan is when moving from one settlement location to another.

the dev used the ' monkey see.. monkey do ' approach to clan

I always explore with the entire gang and settle wherever there's plants to build. Bit more of a nomadic approach. Seems to work fine that way too.

But I did have the mimic and group preservation neurons locked first.
That really increases their survival rates by quite a bit.

Don't you find that you spend so much time trying to keep them out of trouble or patching them up after they get into trouble that it's slower and more cumbersome than exploring solo?

Only benefit I see is increased Intimidation power.

The way combat works means a group is almost never more powerful than a single primate IMHO.

Not really. I've seen a few of them tumble out of the trees, but usually they seem to be alright. They also seem to teleport if you move fast enough.
And you can also give them bleed/poison prevention if you find the right stuff ground level. That's where mimic comes in to patch up the whole group at once. It's good for herding.

One useful thing is I got a nice inventory stash. Just let every ape carry a spear, one with a cutter, and I can just grab a new spear straight after attacking. And cut new weapons at the next base.
