Dimensional Depot
Would love to see an output on the depot. Not to take items out automatically as that would be a bit of an overpowered way of moving materials around the world.

It would be great to have the option to have an overflow output. So when an item jams because the depot is full on that item it would pass though and come out the other end in to a sink or storage depending on your setup.

Use a smart splitter.

Can a smart or programmable splitter sense if a depot is full on a specific item?

the idea makes sense, but i think the devs intention is for you to need to collect more spheres to build a depot for every item

Input side, with "Overflow" wandering off into the great dark beyond of the awesome sink. It doesn't check the storage per se, but if the belt is stuck because full it'll go where you want it.

That won't fix depot being full of rubber for example

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing. Some way to just loop all your items through before going into final storage (or sink). But this is probably intentional, since it would be too easy to have your dimensional storage full of all items, even early on.
Best alternative is to use the upload in your inventory.
You can put in 5 item stack, and it shows you, if it is full.

There are more than enough spheres in the world, to have a full research and at least one dimensonal depot per item.

OP seems like they just want to sink for tickets (as well as accurately gauging power and item use per time unit) rather than stopping the factory flow when the depot is full. The smart splitter's overflow setting does just that: lets the depot fill up (plus any belt/storage buffer on the way to the depot) and then starts sinking anything else you produce until the depot isn't full anymore.

100% agree, it takes all of 15mins to setup

This, just build one per item you want to have in your inventory. No complexity needed.

There are (small spoiler) nearly 300 spheres on the map, they are spread out all around the map, and you only need one per dimensional depot, so just start with what you use most.

By the time I found some SAM ore (needed to unlock), I had enough mercer spheres to build 8 dimensional depots immediately (organically, wasn't looking for them). I'm now actively looking for spheres of course :-)

not likely to happen best bet is to use a smart splitter to pull off the overflow the depot can't take. what you might want to do, like what i'm doing is a dedicated depot per resource i want on hand at all times. if your running into the issue of not enough spheres to build more depots, provided you haven't collected them all, is spend some time away from your factory and hunt spheres, maybe find a few hard drives while your out then come back after you've collected more or feel like you need to get back to your factory. the scanner is a nice tool to keep on you when you can, the radio tower would be a nice buff but that late tier mam research on the quartz tree.

I'm not sure but i think OP meant the dimensional depot (not normal storage) being full (so like when you have 200 rubber inside) and once it's full it won't accept any other item type. So when you have 20 different types of items connected to one dimensional depot and one of them that got in is already maxed out, it will block the other types from entering.
Only solution is having atleast one depo per item type and not mix them i guess.

I suspect the uploader being full is a deliberate balance thing. Otherwise, you could just pipe a ton of different items into one uploader. This way, you need to either build one per item type, or carefully manage the stacks.

A downloader would be pretty sick though. Would have to be late-game since it would be pretty OP, but, still.

I think if you want to just fill up your dimension inventory to the stacks you have available, get to the upload from inventory tech, that gives you 5 slots to work with for uploading. Then, for the dimensional depots themselves, hook them up to a single resource that you use a lot of, like copper sheets when you're going pipe work, or cement if you're building tons of foundation. That way while you're out and using up stuff quick, it'll refill without you having to think about it.

As for the smart spiltter, not for dimensional depot but for regular ones, put it on the feed into the depot (for your plastic and rubber for example). Using the overflow on a side feeding directly into a sink, center line to the depot, gives you a full depot at all times, and the belt never gets clogs so the refiners never shut down (assuming you have your fluids in check).
