Before 1.0 you could "mow down" shrubs with a vehicle, but that doesn't work anymore, just the "good ones" get destroyed, so I put planters around them to protect them. Sometimes if there is a patch, the shrubbery will re-spawn, if it was a world change type of patch, not something like a server, multiplayer patch. Happy Pioneering!
destroyed = gone forever. There is a work around to this using the Satisfactory-Calculator website though, well it worked in the past, not sure about now...
If you uploaded your save to the website, move ANYTHING, like shift a storage box 1 pixel over, save the change, redownload the "edited save" and load it up, ALL the plants will respawn on the map, like, everything, regardless if you have a foundation over it or chainsawed it down, the plants, trees, berries, everything comes back like a fresh save/new game.
(this used to work on slugs and alien anomaly items as well but I think that stopped working)
I tried this for myself in the "SAM cave" in the grassy lands. Instead of dumping a miner there I started with leaving 4 - 6 autominers. Which meant: creatures respawned. But because I was still depending on biomass when I found this cave I fully cleared it of folliage so that I got more biomass; this was a routine at that time: go out explore, but always bring back biomass.
Well... I just unlocked summersloop duplication, and I had to go back to the cave for that; this time I did place a Miner (Mk1); but lo and behold: I could pick up several new bushes again. Not many; 4 - 6 at best in an area which was fully covered in them. And no: I'm 100% sure I did not miss them at first, because I came back for those auto miners a few times and then grabbed all left overs.
The place was fully clean... then I headed out for oil, came back, needed more SAM.. and now I found a few new bushes.
