square enix treats this game the same way bandai does to dark souls games, they dont bother putting them on sale knowing people will buy them anyway at full price.
This game never goes on sale.
Probably won't be in the Steam Winter Sale next week since this SE Sale says it will go till Jan 5th.
ive been waiting this game to be on sale, but it looks squeenix is doing what is squeenix does best: ignore what people want, and expect that small discounts persuade people to buy more recent games.
And you know what, since people are still buying rather than making more noise about this bs, and other lame stuff they have done, they will keep doing it until the company breaks or becomes absorbed by microsoft, ea, or worse (if thats possible).
people should stop buying new overpriced games from square until they begin to learn a bit from devs like sega, who after some serious fails, became more responsive to players, and now they are respected in general, and perceived less hostile and self-centered (squeenix each year looks a lot more like konami, which has become less relevant).
unlikely: sales dont update at the last minute. check steamdb:

the last time this game had a discount was march, and before that one, in december of the previous year: if they didnt added this time, it was to try to push the new game.
as i commented earlier: its just their typical japanese console-centric market.
they always do similar bs when they want to push a new game that no one, or very few cared about (ie what they did when they were trying to sell the chrono nostalgia games, before actually offering the pc version of chrono trigger, which was one of their worst pc ports, and they only half-fixed it after independent devs and fans already hacked it to make it less terrible).
It probably went on sale on Steam around the time the Switch port was released... dunno, too lazy to check :)
