Have fun with the YorHa edition
It will probably have the same bugs as the original.
And if not , have fun paying 40ish bucks for bugfixes lmao.

The source code is readily available, just so you know.

That fork is actually a license violation. Nobody knows what the bloody @#$% the developer did because he doesn't believe in making his source code public. That's not permitted under the terms of the GPL that my software is licensed under.

But since there's no "spyware" to begin with, you need to be very suspicious about what has been changed. I cannot comment, he's violated the terms and is modifying executable code only. Your guess is as good as mine what is actually being modified illegally by that individual.

If I actually cared about this stuff, that license violation is enough for a takedown of the fork. I bloody don't care though, the only reason I have any code that can detect any form of piracy is because cracked games crash and I need to distinguish them from and attempt to disable things before they crash or you people make life hell for me.

isnt FAR and NAIOM (Nier Automata Input Overhaul Mod) free ?

FAR creator is a Denuvo employee or at least a shill (which would be pathetic if he's not a denuvo employee).
You can't trust him, and I won't install any piece of code written by him.

What is your problem with the FAR mod? If you own the game, then you can use it, and it's open source too, you can edit the code...

Because it‘s from a shady random guy.

Why is he shady? Curious.

Because at some point he implemented a anti-piracy-blacklist in the code. He can do this of course but for me this is a no go. And I said it often enough, it‘s the job of the dev and publisher to solve problems. SE is easy going now because they think they needn‘t to do anything.

I don't think an anti piracy blacklist is a bad thing but it does feel unneeded. A multiplayer Subnautica mod however should in my opinion have a anti piracy blacklist but they don't. For FAR it seem a bit over the top. Regardless, as it's open source it shouldn't be too hard for people to remove it.

He made it to solve problems that SE won't solve. They're known for that. SE has always been easy going, way before NieR. A lot of companies are now-a-days, which is lame. Why is the blacklist a no-go for you? It seems unneeded but it's not a disaster.

Just so you know there is modified far mod that has spyware removed.
It also doesn't mess with your game or PC if you somehow offend the original mod's author.
https://github.com/marcussacana/FAR/releases
It's old but works with latest HD texture patch perfectly fine.

Thanks for the info, I might just get a different version then. The game is also a chore to make it run somewhat ok. Even with FAR and other tweaks the game doesn't run in a acceptable manner.

I don't recommend anyone buying this game on PC.

Who told you that? Because it doesn't. Special K-based mods don't do that at all.

Eh, some users tend to hate Kaldaien because of his stances and trolling of pirates and general way of debating throughout the years. For example, that "blacklist" they repeatedly want to make a big deal of? It was a static block that prevented two Steam users who trolled the guy long before NieR:Automata was released from making use of his mods. Random users who have no idea how to read the source code of an application and wants to make up stuff out of thin air (such as the "Denuvo employee or shill" simply because Denuvo have never been an issue that prevented Kaldaien from modding games) constantly brings that up.

marcussacana's fork is completely useless for you. What it does is two things:

1. Disable FAR's Steam API compatibility check.
2. Change the update links to marcussacana's fork.

And that's literally it.

The Steam API compatibility check was a check Kaldaien introduced to ensure that the Steam API DLL file of the game was recognized and supported, as the mod makes use of and enhances Steam features that relies on said mod. That check, however, repeatedly crashed on pirated copies of the game and so marcussacana jumped in and just bypassed the whole thing, basically.

The funniest thing about marcussacana's fork is that opening dinput8.ini and changing Silent=false to Silent=true below [Steam.Log] in the actual mod itself does pretty much the same thing, although instead of only disabling the compatiblity check it disables all of the Steam API enhancements (which is better anyway for pirates and their third-party emulators that barely implement the Steam API to begin with).

What the hell have you been smoking? Can I have some?!

This is an example of the weird and random made up stuff that pops up every now and then. Kaldaien and FAR (dunno if this old version does, but newer does anyway) even goes so far as to censor the Windows account name in the diagnostics log files that gets created on the user's computer as uploading those files (manually performed by the user in case of an issue) might inadvertently leak information that none of us who help users with issues cares about or needs.

What the log files contain (again, only uploaded by the users' themselves in case of an issue they want us to diagnose) is the GPU model, and various information such as third-party stuff/DLL files that gets loaded/influences the game (often causes conflicts) as well as the Windows version (as a result of the reported version of DLL files). This is necessary for other users to help diagnose whatever issue a user might experience.

Steam information isn't tracked, nor gathered, and definitely not IP addresses. The one online connection that might be made (only for some of his mods) is towards GitHub to check if there's a new version of the mod available. Kaldaien can't retrieve any details about those connections either, as GitHub doesn't reveal that type of data for repositories.

Although I somewhat doubt this "soulwarrior" guy actually cares about the reality of things.

All these people defending SE releasing a patch for the price of a new game. Does it even fix the fullscreen resolution bugs that the original game had?
Outsider Feb 27, 2019 @ 11:20pm
I'm not defending them for releasing a paid patch...
Because there is no patch.

They didn’t even care to release a patch. All that SE did was to put together all the content into one package. Notging else.

Am I the only one that can't even find the re-released game in the steam store?
Tooth Fairy Feb 28, 2019 @ 1:23am
Oh, wait, I just read and noticed it's actually the same page as the original game, just updated now. I thought it would be a different release with a different page or something. I don't get the point of this re-release at all then lol It's actually worse than just lowering the main game's cost by -9.99 so the DLC could be optionally bought at once with the main game for the same price as the original full cost. Oh well.
