HDR ON XBOX ONE X BUT NOT PC AND PS4 PRO!!!
THIS IS WRONG AND SHOULD BE FÛÇKING ILLEGAL. Rise of Tomb Raider, Sea of Theives, NBA 2K17, Recore, Warframe, World of Tanks, Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon: Wildlands, Black Desert Online, Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare, Dead Rising 4, Forza Horizon 3, Gears of War 4, Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice, L.A. Noire, Mafia III, Minecraft, No Man's Sky, PLAYERUNKNOWN'S BATTLEGROUNDS, ReCore, Snake Pass, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and now Nier: Automata! The above games all have HDR on XBOX ONE X but not PC!!!
This pratice has got me sick to my stomach and I have a migraine while typing this!! I'm getting the ASUS PG27UQ 4K HDR 144Hz monitor, so of course this pisses me off. I don't want to spend $2000 on a monitor and not being able to use it to it's full potental. I have a really big feeling there is a contract between Microsoft and certain developers to only include HDR on XBOX ONE X. Once again this pratice should be illegal. PC, PS4 PRO, XBOX ONE X all support HDR, all multi platform games should include HDR on all platforms!!! Kingdom Hearts 3 was annouced on XBOX ONE X and it's going to really really ♥♥♥♥ me off even more if It has HDR but not on PS4 PRO. Come on, Kingdom Hearts has always been a Sony exclusive with only a few games on Nintendo, the fact of HDR being only on XBOX ONE X, well there is something seriously wrong with that picture. Jurassic Park Evolution also will lack HDR on PC, but has it on XBOX ONE X and PS4 PRO.

Just look at this tiny library of HDR games on PC https://pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/Glossary:High_dynamic_range_(HDR)

Now PS4
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_PlayStation_4_games

And look at how much more is on XBOX ONE vs PS4 and PC
https://www.xbox.com/en-us/games/xbox-one/xbox-one-x-enhanced-list

Once again all platforms support HDR and all multiplatform games should have HDR support on all platforms. All 3 platforms support HDR 10 and the DCI-P3 and Rec. 2020 colorspace, there is no excuse for developers not to support HDR on all platforms for their multi-platform games.

This pratice should be illagal and should be reported to Federal Trade Commission and European Commission just like how Nvidia GPP was.

the reason is that most game monitors on pc do not support hdr. free/g sync, 144hrz, 1ms response time, 4k/uhd but not a a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ hdr support.

Why not wait for Square's E3 conference before losing your marbles? What a shocker, the Microsoft conference had only the Xbox relevant bits.

Well that is there's hope for PS4 pro at least, I hear the PC version is still a mess, so don't count on that, or expect some crazy nonsense being pulled again.

Also, there is a such thing called "Future Proofing".

Thumbs up!

The PC version is still a mess, indeed. Common advice on, "Does it work?", type of threads is,"Buy it, try it. If it runs, keep it, if it doesn't, get a refund". I won't deny that I have some small hope that there will be fixes for the game due to Microsoft having their Xbox Play Anywhere going on. Almost the same applies to HDR: Just wait and see how much pressure Microsoft could put on Platinum Games.

Demand a patch from tech support and public accounts of SE and PG, threat to sue them if they will not provide patche. It helps usually, if it does not - sue them for real, preferably not alone.

it happens all the time. games are re-released on consoles with additioanl features that are never back ported to the pc. DMC SE (the ninja theory game) being the best example I can think of.

This is regardless of the rant of HDR. But concerning the 4K 144hz monitor.

You might want to read this Sticky from Reddit. It's a bit long but worth the information.

Bad news OP, HDR is a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ hot mess with W10 currently. HDMI 2.0 does NOT have the bandwidth to carry 4k60hz+HDR @ 4:4:4 10bit. You can forget 144hz with HDR, it's just not gonna happen until HDMI 2.1 is in full swing and both your source and device will need to support it. Most of the HDMI 2.1 features are on the silicone level, so there will be no gains from using a 2.1 cable with 2.0 ports. DP1.4 does not make the cut either, right now I'd say stick to 1440p 165hz panels they're the best you're gonna get.

I've tried everything to get my LG C7 to output 4k60hz+HDR at 4:4:4 it's just not possible currently.

Actually HDMI 2.0+ has bandwith for 4k 60 fps + HDR with a least 4.2.2 , not 120 or 144 hovever, but 60 is pretty much enough for smooth gameplay. Without hDR hdmi 2.0 capable of running at 4k 60 fps RGB or 4 4 4 .

I also have LG TV - UH850V and its outputs HDR pretty fine at 4k and 60 fps. Not sure why it does not work for you, maybe you have some old or very cheap cable that is not very good at delivering required bandwidth (rumors about cables bein the same - are not very truth) so you got no signal in the end. Also you may have no video card that has HDMI 2.0 support and HDR, nvidia started to support that since GTX 10XX series, not sure about redeon, but also nothing older than 2 years old should not support it.

If non of that is your case than you may want to try god DP 1.4 to HDMI 2.1 adapters with HDR support, they have better bandwidths and more future proof and if you will find good enough adapter you may get better results by converting DP to HDMI.

Also there are some cables with chips, like MCABLE and something similar, they may help with other issues and improve image quality.

This! HDR actually worked fairly well for me with W10 until the Anniversary Update was released. I have my gaming PC hooked up to LG 55". No problems until Microsoft "fixed" HDR with their update. It's been a mess ever since.

News flash, HDR10 works perfectly fine with 4k60/4k30 modes. HDR is usually done in limited mode, even on TV's and not full RGB/4:4:4:4.

Most of us have out PC's connected to a monitor (mines is a 144hz VA) and a tv (a 4k HDR capable LG)

I've had NO problems with my graphics card and Mass Effect with HDR10 and Dolby Vision. (at least until an LG firmware update that hurt its detection algorithm for DV)

I keep the HDR tag turned off on windows, I don't need my mostly SDR content to be distorted by the HDR effect. When I run a game in F/S that uses HDR the output mode changes automatically and HDR icon on the TV pops up just fine.

Don't know if you've noticed, but Windows 10's April Update this year finally brought along with it a SDR -> HDR color conversion to expand the SDR color contents in HDR mode to look better than they did before.

They're still slightly distorted, but I believe you can control how much Windows will expand them into the HDR space so you can find a good middleground where it's usable.

This game does not need HDR to be good.

And 99% people do not jave 2000$ for Monitor... And does not ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ care for HDR, especially that it is not working always as it should (I saw few videos testing HDR).
