White Screen on Startup

I have only just gotten this error, however I do have FAR installed as well as updating my Nvidia hardware to the latest version and still I get the white screen. If anyone has any ideas on how to fix this, id pray to you for a week

If you still hear the game sounds in the background then use Alt+Enter, once or twice, to switch window/fullscreen mode.

If you do not hear the game sounds then try the below out:

this is an old thread, but im experiencing this same problem. if i try to start the game and i let it fullscreen after the initial loading screen, my computer doesnt recognize it as a source, and its impossible to get back to my desktop without restarting it. if i dont let it fullscreen, its just white with the sound, and alt+enter does nothing, just flashes black like its trying to fullscreen. i installed FAR but still no fix. what is happening?
edit, my drivers are all up to date too

been a few months since the last post

i'm having the same issue (slightly different, same big points). game starts up, i see square enix logo and even the game's YorHa loading screen thing, then it just ♥♥♥♥♥ its pants a little and goes windowed and it's a white screen with sound. i can control the game it seems as when i click it makes the selection sound.

i've attempted these things to fix it. none of them worked for me but they seemed to work for others

1. a simple fix - just press alt+enter to make it fullscreen
[for me, it does the same thing asher described, it just ♥♥♥♥♥ a little and goes back to
windowed whitescreen]

2. update graphics card drivers

3. install the FAR mod https://steamcommunity.com/groups/SpecialK_Mods/discussions/3/1334600128973500691/

4. make a special shortcut for Nier Automata as described in "The White Screen Issue" section of this thread https://steamcommunity.com/app/524220/discussions/0/2592234299528854730/

5?. i tried pressing alt+enter with all this ♥♥♥♥ and nope i'm destined to suffer


the weirdest part of all of this is that it never happened to me until today. i've ran it on my old pc and my current one and it only occured today. if anyone can help me with this you'll get a big old gold star on my board

Same for me. The exact same "symptoms" if you will. Does anyone have any idea as to what could be causing this? The game has run perfectly fine until like a week ago for me.

ok cool so it just works now that's good but whut? just opened it after having given up for about a month now and it works. can't offer any help, as i didn't do anything myself, but if anyone else is subscribed to this thread maybe give the game another try? might've been a tactical stealth update who ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ knows. if so, well played devs.

its been a long time since i play this game, when i want to play it again suddenly i got same error like you.. i get same problem like you right now.. black screen then after alt+enter.. its become white screen.. FAR mod doesnt do any help to me.. already reinstall nvidia driver but it has no help... i dont know how to do anymore with this game
