All of that is also ignoring that there are plenty of gamepad manufacturers who aren't Microsoft, Sony, or Nintendo. Logitch and 8BitDo both make several great gamepads that support XInput natively; my personal favorite is 8BitDo's SN30 Pro+, which coincidentally also uses a Nintendo-style button layout.

Because the Xbox one its pretty much the PC official controller since forever.
Also, your own personal opinion on which controller is better is not a deciding factor for companies when it comes to which button prompts they provide.
Beside all that, the mod linked in this discussion is outdated and does not work with the current version of the game.
Navigate to the game installation folder and within the Data folder you should see a folder with the name 'pl' - delete this folder and it should remove all trace of the old mod.
Think this is an updated version of the mod.
