The keyboard and mouse controls are functional. The camera is a bit floaty, but it doesn't actually matter (for some reason, some people seem to always freak out if they're expected to respond to something the camera's not pointing directly at, even when auto-targeting is so generous you could practically fight blind and do just fine).
Nobody can tell you if you'd find it playable or not. You know your own preferences and limitations better than any of us. The game is designed to be played with a controller, but that's true of a lot of console action games that get ported to PC; if you have experience with those, then NieR isn't all that much different (excepting the twin-stick sections, which do take a bit of work to adapt to).
Double-tap works just fine once you adjust to it.
Don't know why they made it this way.
Double tap is fine if it's and addtional option to the evade button. but while fighting it's oftenly goes off unintentionally. that's why i would prefer an Evade button.
That aside. you can still use some program to emulate the Controller for Kb&m there's a thread in this forum.
And you don't have the option to change the buttons? Like shift+A for doge or shift+Q for heal and so on?
Or this option is only a able with another programs?
I really want to play this game but I don't want to pay 60€ on it and left it after 1-2 days
Again Super Weird.
even though it's not that hard to use Double-Tap. but it can be unreliable sometimes. like when i want to Counter (pressing Direction precisely when enemy attack) sometimes it just become evade because i was moving before trying to counter.
i call this a bad control design. and i'll say it again. Don't know Why thay have to do it this way just for PC version. there are so many buttons on the keyboard why not pick one for Evade? gosh dangit pumpkin pie!
another problem i found when playing with KB&M is the Target locking selection. i mean when you use lock target and want to change the target you'll have to press Arrow keys. The mouse cannot control that. But it's no problem to me since i rarely use Target lock and in Hard difficulty and above you cannot use target lock anyway.
Let me add some more information about Camera Options in the game.
you can Set your Camera control pretty extensively. I set mine to work like PC TPS game (where the Camera didn't turn when you strafe) and it works quite well.
There is Mouse Acceleration on Camera control that cannot be set in anyway; but it's not that bad so i can work with it.
The game sometime turn your camera to looks at the Point of interest against your control.
it would be nice if there's a DEMO version so you could try before you buy it. (wink wink)
To add to this. The acceleration is negative, meaning the faster you move the mouse the less the camera moves. And it can't be turned off.
Yey...
Personally, I always prefer playing anything that is not a fighting game (i.e. Mortal Kombat, Street FIghter...) with a K&M setup, because to me only fighting games really benefit from a controller, everything else is simply better with the K&M. Ultimately it boils down to personal preference, but these are just my two cents.
LMB is light attack. Also Enter (you can use it in fishing, and in the UI, etc.).
RMB is heavy attack. Also Esc (again, in the fishing mini-game, and probably other areas).
LMB+RMB is fire. This is very useful in hacking, but not so much in normal gameplay (since they'll also issue their normal commands, and then you're prevented from doing further light or heavy attacks while they're being held down).
The twin stick shooter sections are dreadful though without a controller, the mouse behaves like a thumb joystick from an Xbox controller, as soon as it stops your aim resets to the default position. This is the only reason I keep a controller nearby and switch back to M&K as soon as I'm done with them.
you can't use mouse buttoms to fire or to do any tasks?
i undersand what are the problems with a keyboard in general but about mouse and camera control?
