Other "boomer shooters"

If you haven't played it already, and while not lesser known of course the, the original Quake (on a sourceport that supports the soundtrack like Quakespasm). Amid evil that you mentioned is also an easy recommendation, it's really good.

For modern retro stuff in no particular ranking:

Hell Hunt
Nightmare Reaper
Wrath: Aeon of ruin
Brutal Fate (upcoming by brutal doom guy)
Shrine 1 and 2 (both free)
Prodeus
Hedon

There are way more, but those are just ones I can think of off the top of my head. I haven't played them all but they are worth checking out for fans of the genre.

Edit: more games since OP asked for lesser known. All on steam. Never played any of these but some look good.

Overload (Descent remake by Descent developers)

Nice list, i've played most of it. I will check that Death Wish for Blood. Hexen, I tried and gave up it's boring as.... and levels are bull... Chasm, do you mean Chasm the Rift, that's hard to find. You reminded me about Kingpin and Red Faction, I actual never played 1 and 2. An to clarify I'm looking for games inspired more by Quake, Doom and DN3D. Newer FPS are great but I have some itch for retro. (Dusk and Project Warlock are great)+(I have old PC so it's easier to run older or indie titles.)

Thank you for this one.

A good modern one is Insurgency Sandstorm.
Through being a multiplayer shooter, it has exceptional good bots for local single player.
Also Warhammer Vermintide games with bot enhancement mods.
