Lag or poor PC?
Hi all, new to Scum and loving the game so far. But Im not sure if I'm experiencing lag or whether my gaming PC (that I just bought) is struggling to load frames. I find that in certain areas, usually dense foliage places, the screen freezes often. So if I'm running the screen could freeze then all of a sudden im 10m further forward.

I own a PC SPECIALIST Tornado R3 AMD Ryzen 3 GTX 1050 Gaming PC.

I only played on the official eu server so haven't tried other servers. Is this lag or do you think Im my PC isn't up to the challenge? Any help appreciated.

On what settings are you playing and how much ping do you have when entering that server?
Also, I presume you have 8GB of RAM?

GTX 1050 + gaming pc is an oxymoron. Like "living dead" or "Windows Works"

Search youtube for videos on lowering your settings to help your system performance, I think you will need this.

Try To Set in Video Settings (in SCUM)
Rendering Resolution at 70
You should get some boost in frames 🍺

I was using epic settings but then reduced them to high with not much improvement. Will check the ping later tonight. Yes I do have 8gb RAM.

The PC is already on Ebay so I'll be buying a new one soon! :D

It's not as bad as people who don't use one say.
I have a box with a GTX 1050ti, 16g, i77k, and run this on High, Monster Hunter World on Medium, Arma 3 on Ultra, and Escape From Tarkov on High.

The 1050 hate is based on how poor it performs compared to to the RX of the same price. It's a fair criticism, but no way as bad as people make out.

Ok so i re-installed the Nvidia drivers. Game runs alot smoother. however, the game is almost unplayable in large towns. My framerate drops to 1! I tested my ping which is running at around 60. I'm still getting frequently kicked for my ping being too high.

Tried to rush some players last night and totally crapped out, screen froze and lost everything, pretty annoying. I've seen a youtube video with a patch to maximize framerate, but i'll probably avoid this as i dont wanna mess with Scum config files.

The above problems still occur with all graphics settings on low. Pretty disappointed now as i really wanted to get into this game.

Aside from hardware and third party software, there is so much that one can do to tweak and improve the performance of windows 10 to gain frames.

But since it's complicated, and you're buying instead of building, I suggest you Google it.

Maybe start with googling
"un-parking CPU cores windows 10"

Speaking of buying vs building, you do realise that it's super easy to build a PC (it's like Lego) and for the money you pay for a pre-built PC, you can build your own that's much faster with the same or less money.

Good luck!

Cheers guys. After further thoughts im thinking just to upgrade the graphics card. Just couldnt be bothered to start changing parts on a computer that ive just bought. Seems the best way though.

Would this do the job?

Maybe this will help.

You can also see side by side comparisons on YouTube

Im beginning to think it may not entirely be my graphics card. Ive been trying the game using both my NVIDIA and the standard graphics card built in. Although the Nvidia improves the framerate, it still sticks massively in dense areas of the map.

Probably better to do some tweaking and testing before you start buying hardware.

Did you try lowering the render resolution from 100 to 80? (Or even 70) That adds at least 10 FPS if not more.

Make sure the windows 10 power settings are at "performance"

Make sure windows is not parking CPU cores.

Close ALL unnecessary programs. Multitasking while running game is a no go for your PC specs

And of course, make sure you have the latest drivers installed
