Game issues FAQ (resolution, crashing, not loading...)

Due to high traffic on Steam servers, especially on releases, Steam often "forgets" to download all the files.

1. Please, if you have issues with the game first step is to restart Steam after installation.

2. If that doesn't help, go to game properties, Local files tab and Verify integrity of game cache. If anything is missing it will download it automatically.

3. Third thing that can mess with the game (any game) is antivirus software. AV falsely flags exe file as a virus, deletes it and you can't play. Whitelist the game in your AV to fix that.

4. Temporary fix for resolution issue:

Open first your Savegame Folder (AppData -> Local -> SCUM -> Saved -> Config -> WindowsNoEditor),
now open the file „GameUserSettings.ini“ and change the following settings to:

ResolutionSizeX=1920
ResolutionSizeY=1080

LastUserConfirmedResolutionSizeX=1920
LastUserConfirmedResolutionSizeY=1080

DesiredScreenWidth=1920
bUseDesiredScreenHeight=True
DesiredScreenHeight=1080

FullscreenMode=1
PreferredFullscreenMode=1

Save file and start game.

5. Try to reduce Rendering Resolution below 100, some people reported that helped with FPS drops.

6. No sound issue - If Oculus Rift is connected to the PC, the sound of Scum will allways come through the Oculus Headset Speakers. Please disable Oculus Rift in Windows Sound settings.

Of course, there might be something else wrong, but these few steps very often solve most of the issues. Thank you for your patience and understanding, guys.

When I applied the settings, the main lobby restarted so oversized that I can't see the menu options to select anything. The game is currently unplayable, because every time i start the game the main lobby screen only shows me the top right section(all I can see is some fence and a tree limb). I have restarted my computer with the same reults.
I don't know how to revert the settings (if this would even fix the issue) without access to the menu options....Please help!

I had the same problem. The fix for me was screen scaling. Goto Display settings and set screen scaling back to 100%.

Here too, same config, same crash, very often
(when i check, the GPU usage goes to 100% before crash)

I lowered most of my video settings to medium. Now it only crashes a couple of times a hour. But I always lose all Fame pionts :(

make sure your game is running in fullscreen. Try to turn fullscreen off. Restart the Game and turn Fullscreen on again.

I think the sicknesses tab on bcu might be broken. Vitamin K and A defficiency and they are both over 100%. shouldn't it say {Treated}.?

The issue I am having is that Shadowplay (nvidia share) will not work, UNTIL I change fullscreen of OFF, apply, set it back to ON and hit apply again.

^^these two lines DO NOT exist in my GameUserSettings.ini file
And this is no doubt the issue.... Can I just add them? if so where should they be in the list? (if it matter)

3.) my CPU is almost always at 100% and i have lot of stutter and sometimes my screen even froze for 5-10 sec, especially when i am shooting or been shot at, its unplayable in firefights

And yes, i have good enough PC to run it (atleast by System Req standards) i5 6600K + GTX1060 + 16GB RAM
And yes, i tried verf game cache, my Windows and GPU are up to date.

tbh the minimum and even the recommended specs on the store page are an absolute joke and a borderline outright LIE, at least in the games current state.

I wouldn't even attempt to play this game with less than 6GB VRAM...... they list 2GB as "recommended"
