You'll need a Prometheus for taking down other dreadnoughts.
carving doesnt last long but it lasts long enough to kill an umber of dreads, nevermind 1 dread... also as people pointed out u get no such thing as "max quanta invested"
build heras / promethius for taking out other dreads. and deploy orbital turrets.
hyperion has low dps vs armoured units, and same goes for cronus. (unless u take the right level up)
the main thing u are missing here is that dreads have 90% damage reduction from their armour. so if u are doing 100 dps with ur unit, it is reduced to 10dps.. u understand what a difference that makes? so u need weapons that ignore armour.. or u need huge dps.. thus promethius and hera. or massively out number the units.
personally i think the armour mechanic is the dumbest ive seen in an RTS, but we have to deal with it... that the armour does the same % reduction regardless of the weapon attacking it is completely illogical.. whether its a tiny pea shooter or a super cannon it still has 90% reduction..but thats what we have.
In my last game i had 3 falcon aa turrets, 6 wings of furies? (air superiority) and 2 appollo? (anti-air/drone cruiser) in amongst a swarm of other units. I watched as 3 Sub. bombers? flew into the base killed the turrets, 2 radioactive resources, the frigate factory, armoury and dreadnought factory, radar and anti-orbital before finally going down.
I'm not sure if fighters are worth it but i assume they're the hard counter given their unit sdescription. Having 18 planes buzzing around the node/base gives a false sense of security having seen how ineffective they are. The bombers had already flown through a screen of 3 more fighter wings that were further out and taken little to no damage before the other fighters broke off persuit.
There may have a beeen a a tech level differnce but at around the 10-5min mark it shouldn't have been huge.
so if ur seeing something that seems like cheating it is usually due to something else..
