Odd regarding the full window situation. Have you tried changing it in the game's settings.ini located in documents\My Games\ Ashes Escalation and see if it sticks?
A benchmark is just a snapshot of game play for a rough idea of performance. Late in a game with plenty of AI is going to be more demanding than the benchmark.
Do you have the latest drivers? If you and the problem persists perhaps a screenshot or video might help the devs?
When I got my new screen back in December, I couldn't force the game to stay in fullscreen it kept reverting to borderless window even after ini changes in DX11, hopefully that's been fixed.
As far as a bottleneck goes..it must be my gpu. It's old... I know. I'm going to try the game settings. Is it simply changing a 0 to a 1 or false to true to force fullscreen?
Would reformatting help. I haven't done it in years
Yeah I know. I will give more info later. I'm at work.
I5-3570k 3.4 ghz.
There shoulde be a docments in the local files where the ashes files is so you can change the res from there.
i will dig a bit into it and see if can find it.
That's the strange things though I tested it with msaa off and x8 and got the same benchmark results.
Thanks for the help!!!!
Steam FPS counter should work regardless of screen mode, and does for me. It could be something to do with playing at 1080p on a 4k screen as others have had other issues doing that.
Yeah, it is a 1 or 0 setting so just switch it to which ever one it isn't. I think 1 is borderless window.
Are your RAM sticks in the right place to take advantage of dual channel? Makes a big difference in this game.
I don't know what effect the screen being a TV will have. Perhaps worth a google.
I would have thought msaa x 8 would worsen performance, odd that it doesn't.
Looking at your results I think you are getting performance which is about right for your GPU? I could be wrong but I expect when you upgrade that some day then it will sort you out.
If you could run dx12 it would better indicate where the bottleneck is, but it has to be the GPU really, though the results are a little odd. When Vulcan comes out soon you can try with that perhaps as that should work fine under windows 7.
In the meantime you might as well put the settings to the higher of the two, though that might perform worse in the bigger games.
as for the diggin i have done i have not found any docs that will help you change the res or change the settings without entering ashes.
(i am not an expert on this kind of thing so its better if a dev helped you on that part or another player that has that experience.)
largely possible is quiet well hidden. or it is in another local map that i dont know of.
I had some games where they refused to change settings, coh2 and dow2 did that.
Yeah my ram is properly installed. When i first bought the game i had 8 gbs of ram. I bought another 8 for this game. Now all four of my slots are filled. I checked the motherboard manual and asked my friend who helped me build the pc. He said i did it right. I got the exact same model as the originals.
I'm happy with the 35 -45 benchmark. Its what i expected. In fact when the game starts up...it's around 50 fps. I don't normally play big games. I prefer 1 vs 1. But i must say it was pretty fun playing with 5 others.
I guess I'll continue playing with the higher settings for now. I also thought it would worsen the fps. Thats why i asked if the benchmark is accurate. I'm going to try and get a 2 vs 2 game tonight and see how it goes. Maybe that's my limit. I can't wait for Vulcan support to see if it helps. Hopefully it does!!!!
Would an SSD help?
What exactly is point lighting quality. Is it demanding? Will I notice anything graphically if I turn it off?
@creature
Thanks for checking. I don't overclocking anything. I don't even know how to.
@tomasoltis
I have been trying to change resolution. I can't because it won't let me use fullscreen. Only borderless windowed or windowed
Thanks everyone!!!
I wrote Stardock about2 sew ded333eeee3e3r3e333wwtts4e the fullscreen issue and steam fps counter . I tried some things they suggested. They didn't ework ( erasing settings file, validate files through steam)
I figured it's my tv and it being 4k. I may try and lower my desktop resolrdution to 1600 x 900 since borderless seems to use that.
I more happy about the game running fine. The fullscreen / borderless doesn't seem to be any different... unless it is and I'm a pc noob.
Thanks everyone for the help!!!
