Example from BL1:

I didn't find the story confusing, not sure how other people did, and I loved the cameos from the BL1 team appearing in it. While it was more humorous, it also had it's serious moments with one of the best villians I've ever had the pleasure of coming across in a video game.
My only complaints about BL2 would be enemies not dropping the gun they are using, and purples becoming less valuable at end game max level content. Needing to grind certain mobs for the right legendary would be perfectly acceptable and enjoyable if it's a boss fight, but if it's just a named NPC you can easily solo, just wtf where they thinking?
I also think the boss fights were better in 2, the only boss that impressed me in BL1 was the zombie boss at the end of the Dr. Ned's DLC. I also enjoyed the much more indepth leveling tree in BL2, which I felt had a bigger impact on character builds then BL1 by having more options.
If I were to rate the series with grades, I'd give them:
BL1: B-
TPS: C-
BL2: B+
Gaige has like 13 skills that affect DT, class mods can buff those. So, yes you can change something about your action skill on the fly. You can also visit the quick change stations and clear and redo your entire skill set.
Be that true or not I don't know, I have not played or experienced all other games of "our times" ( some of our times include Pong and arcades). Borderlands 2 is not a PvP, so I don't think it is an issue. I am NOT saying Borderlands 2 is not without it's faults, I just think most of them are not as big of a deal as some appear to think they are. That, and I think this is about the Borderlands games, not games of our times.
Put a Flame of the Fire Hawk shield on and launch DT with Sharing is caring, try a corrosive spike or any other. Speck in to Make it Sparkle and change the elemental damage DT does by just shooting him with the element you want him to use.
You were saying ?
No?
Exactly. You're forgetting about the other 5 playable classes. On BL1 you can do it on everyone.Furthermore, having to change out your shield vs putting an item on that literally changes nothing but your action skill is a pretty big tradeoff. Granted this doesn't exactly apply to zero or salvadore since their action skill is literally buffing their weaponry, but still...Point stands.
To be totally honest, I have no idea how it works on anyone but Mordecai. I don't have enough game play with any of the others to know, don't have any to try on them, they are noob low level.
The relics in Borderlands 2 give the Vault Hunter things, so they may not buff the action skill but they can buff the Vault Hunter or the vehicle (Afterburner relic).
But, how many action skills in Borderlands can be given an item, like a shield by the player ?
It's ALL a give and take thing, one does something one way, the other does something another. I liked Borderlands, a lot. Getting in to it was hard, the FOV was awful, no moving in FFYL sucks, the joy of being knocked over an object that now blocks your attempt to get that second wind. If they did a remaster and fixed those issues I really think I would be all over it. But I am holding on to hope that they are working on Borderlands 3 and that it will be epic.
Whatever you think, and that is fine, for me Borderlands 2 is overall the best Borderlands game out there at this time. Where is Jack, Tiny Tina, Mr Torgue High-Five Flexington, Gaige, and some other less important Vault Hunters ? Where are the most "RAID" Bosses? Borderlands 2 is just more entertaining for ME. The ME is the only important thing in this equation for me.
Secondly, action skills in BL2 have their own purposes rather than just raw damage. Unless if you're playing as Salvador, you use your action skill for utility purposes while the enemy killing part is your job.
Sorry that BL2 isn't the same as BL1, even tho it was meant to be different from BL1. Artifacts in BL1 aren't that exciting.
-Edit to add in another thought
I'd like to clarify that I'm not suggesting the feature is better or worse than what BL2 offers, I'm just stating that that is a mechanic that exists in BL1 but not in 2 and being able to customize the element of your action skill on the fly for all characters is still nice. Similiar to the mechanic of being able to actually carry medkits in 1. it's a nice feature. nothing game changing but it exists in 1 but not 2.
You can solo borderlands 2 the only problem is that you need to do side missions so you’re not underpowered when play the main missions or starting over on a higher difficulty like TVHM or UVHM. Also it’s harder to get rarer gear because in the first game they hand out legendarys like candy but, in bl2 you need to put in more effort to get rarer gear.
