I joined a couple online games, since this community seems to love gifting away stuff they don't use anymore, and a guy gave me a kickass corrosive pistol which destroyed the robots super quickly, allowing me to focus on the Warden.
Again, thanks for all the help. ^^
I know you've gotten past him now, but FWIW ...
W4RD3N can be easy, if you've got some good area effect weapons. The "trick" is that you can attack it, without it doing anything.
When you're at the dam, as you move into the area with W4RD3N, Roland will say something like "kill this thing". At that point the fight has started, but if you haven't moved into W4RD3N's line of sight yet, it won't do anything. When I went through there in UVHM (around level 67), I spammed a shock Topneaa (Vladoff E-tech rocket launcher with a good area effect, and every 3rd shot or so doesn't use any ammo) in front of W4RD3N. When I moved out to where I could see its health bar, its shield and some of its health were gone. _Then_ the loaders started showing up, and I used a corrosive Topneaa to finish off W4RD3N, and the usual stuff for the loaders. No problem at all. And if I'd just kept using the Topneaa, without checking W4RD3N's health bar, I probably could have just finished it off before it even saw me.
To be honest, I didn't think it would cause me such trouble, since on Normal and TVHM I simply went and killed W4RD3N without even paying attention to the enemy robots, and then it didn't matter if I got downed after, since the boss was already dead.
This time the robots were the main problem. Also the fact that he escaped to another location -which I didn't even know existed- because there was a super badass WAR Loader literally spawncamping. xD

That ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ killed me a dozen times until they escaped, and I found it way harder to fight on the new location.
I blew through warden on first 2 plays but had to go to other place for ultimate...didn't even know there was a 2nd place >.>
in uvhm its a different picture. for uvhm, you want to slag everything, ideally. and then yeah, what ppl have said -- shoot constructutors in the eye, use corrosive weapons.
Against constructors, I often stay at extreme range (like 500 meters away) and use a corrosive sniper rifle to wear them down. at that range, you have time to hide when it launches missiles, and most of the robots won't even see you.
but, you can't do that against the warden. cause the mission is timed. to some extent, you either need overwhelming firepower to blow up everything fast, or you're gonna have trouble killing it before it runs away.

You don't actually have to kill the warden before it escapes. if you fail, there is a backup plan, and you go somewhere else to finish the mission.
So, if all else fails, just attack the warden to start the timer, then go and hide til i runs away. the next mission is not timed, and so you can take a more strategic approach, if that fits your style
You know there's a spoiler tag thingy on here, right? :p
See?
