how do people manage over 1000 hours in this game?
i mean, the actual storyline is like 50 hours, and there's honestly no point in beating the game again (in my opinion!) because you know what's going to happen next. i understand that there's dlc for the game but i doubt the dlc takes like 100s of hours to complete.

2 is leveling up,RPG elements and very very much more. Like raid bosses, rare items and prorably if you meet good guys or simply good gunhands.

This. Most games don't have it. But about 23-30 in the history of gaming have it in spades. Borderlands and Borderlands 2 are in that elite group.

Or I could counter with: "Why do I watch all the Astros' games? I know they're probably gonna lose or, if they have a good season, they'll just choke weirdly in the playoffs or sell off all their good players. Answer: I dunno. Always been a fan, always will be?

I have 1048 hrs in bl2 and I am still working on it.I have played the main game and the dlc's.I still have badass points to finish and achievements [] 4 left to do].I have a commando in UVHM level 57.A mechrommacer level 42 who will be ready for UVHM soon.A gunzerker 37 in TVHM.A Siren level 20 in normal play. And just started a Psycho level 12 normal play. You are right the game story is the same but the challage is the different play styles of the different Vault hunters you can play. You have to change your play with each one.And that keeps it interesting for me.In the first two play throught I solo'ed the game. But UVHM means for me its time to think about co-op play to get throught the game a 3ed time.So in the over 1000hrs the game is still challageing to me.GAME ON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

To reach 1000 hours, play BL2 in its entirety. Lvl up all your characters. Get better loot. And if you want to or have UVHP#2 then reach OP8. Haven't played public co-op in UVHM yet but if there are lobbies for UVHM, expect at least one of the lobbies to be of a host using 3rd party stuff. Not that it is against any rules but the host may probably flak up your character's progression.

I do, but I rank up pretty quickly just doing bar room brawl from Toruge's DLC over and over.

1) its an rpg
2) the story isnt the onlything in the game
3) several raid bosses
4) hundreds of hours of side quests
5) co op never gets boring.

1000 hours is about 41 days and 16 hours. Assuming 4 hours a day, you would hit 1000 hours on your 250th day of play. At 2 hours a day, that would be hit on your 500th day.

The game has been out for over a year(18th of September 2012), so 1000 hours is quite easily possible by now. No need for all-nighters or giving up your entire social life or anything like that to get that much.

Beyond that, every video game has fans who really freaking like it, and may indeed play it for several hours a day, almost every day. Some people might tire of it after a while and take breaks spanning weeks or months, others won't.

I personally enjoy most of the dialogue, from little things like Maya saying "Silence!" or "So it goes" to Handsome Jack and his "D!cks! I'm talking about d!cks!" or Gaige and her "I am the God of Damage!" and many other lines :)

1000 hours in Borderlands 2? Yes, I had 1000 hours in Borderlands 2, 1000 hours ago, I have 2000 hours in. You want to know how, easy, I freaking like playing the game, a lot. I know some one who played it, went through normal and pronounced he had beaten the game. A LOT of time was spent just exploring, finding places to get, that had chest etc that showed me as off map, Vault Symbols etc, NOT rushing through. :borderlands2:
