But the fact he's inadvertendly convinced hundreds of thousands of people Axton sucks is pretty trash.
This guy covers it pretty well. Axton has a few merits, and is maybe one of the best characters for solo play, but he has a lot of skills which are just awful (e.g. Mag-Lock) and while other vault hunters offer support for decent weapon types, Axton supports the single worst weapon type in the game, Assault Rifles.
Axton does super-good at lower levels, but when you get to high levels and damage is king, Axton just doesn't have any easy way to deal crazy amounts of damage. You instead have to depend on constantly killing enemies to maintain damage bonuses. Axton's only really powerful abilities are all defensive, which doesn't do much good when you tend to go down in about 2 shots.
Also as a side note: OP is English a second language to you? I ask because you had a pretty big failure at understanding the English language just now. z00t wasn't calling you a talented gamer, that was directed at the creator of the video. He was calling you an ignorant troll. Here is how that sentence structure works in English.
Let's break this down so you can see the nuances of the english language.
"Q: And what are you then"
This is the main part of the sentence. He's asking a question about you, and specifically your qualifications.
"that your opinion should be taken as having more weight"
This is adding to the main question of your qualifications. specifically, it follows to clarify that the question is specifically about your qualifications in relation to...
"than a very talented gamer? "
Here is is saying who your qualifications should be compared to. Your misinterpretation is reading this as comparing you to yourself, which is nonsense.
"A: An ignorant troll."
Now, remember that original question asking "what are you""? This is where he answers it. He wasn't calling the guy who made the video this, he was calling you this. And you shouldn't be thanking him for it.
Hope this helps. Don't let it get you down, English is a hard language to learn.
LOL. What then, does that make you? Cause he knows how to play the game and has a few videos. You dont even have that!
Alright, alright, since I'm here, I'll do it, ere you go. Why does this video omits running back to ammo dump for extra grenades? How this mlg rek vidya is superior in mlg rekin to, say, anarchy shemfleet, which is one left click for an entire room, and, surprise, no running back to grenade shop? Why is there so little lens flare and sample text?
On second thought, you know what - I agree with whatever you say a priori.
no offense dude, but I have to strongly disagree with your comment about Axton's "Mag-Lock" skill being one of the worst.
if you combine the Phalanx Shield and Mag-Lock skills together, Axton's turrets will stick to walls and ceilings.
Eh. Commants like, "mag lock is useless" and "axton is bad" are ingredients frequently seen bobbing at the top of the forum's pot of ignorance stew.
The closest I saw to an attempt was "But if you get Phalanx Shield then the turret sticks to walls and ceilings"... Ok? I mean yeah that's exactly what Mag-Lock does but how is that useful? Seems to me like throwing your turret on the wall next to you or the ceiling above you doesn't really do much for you. Possibly Mag-Lock allows it to shoot over cover in a few specific areas but I don't see what Phalanx Shield has to do with it.
All I had to say is Mag-Lock is awful, and I got 1 person calling me ignorant and another person strongly disagreeing because Phalanx Shield- a totally different skill -is not awful. All while totally ignoring the entire rest of my post, sort of like they don't want to have a discussion about the character as a whole, but instead want to be hyper-focused on 1 single detail. It'd be nice if one of them could list a situation where tossing a turret on that wall to my left would be more useful than throwing it on the ground in front of me. Or failing that, respond to some of the strengths I mentioned while comparing them to the other weaknesses I mentioned.
I for one think Mag-Lock is a pretty good skill.
@ the dude above:
"Ok? I mean yeah that's exactly what Mag-Lock does but how is that useful? "
"Possibly Mag-Lock allows it to shoot over cover in a few specific areas"
You already got the answer, dude. I agree about phalanx shield having nothing to do with it, and hugely disagree with the "few" specific areas. Deploying your turret cover-free in a lot of areas means faster slagging, thus faster killing. If you use your turret as an utility skill and light distraction, and not defense at all (it won't last much in OP levels, even with phalanx, anyway), its a solid one point spent.
really i was just hoping to put water on the pointless flame war by offering an opinion (for which side i really couldnt care less) without resorting to "your'e stupid!" "no youre stupid!", i forgot such things are akin to oil fires. seriously, who really cares if some people like the character/skill or if some people dont?
its just a game, and frankly i think both sides of this argument are wrong. what class/skills/weapons types etc... are good is really a matter of personal preferance, even if one skill is just a lesser version of another skill in the same tree, someone who prefers it may not do better with the "bettter" skill because it just wont feel right to them/suit their play style.
forums have great potential to be useful and informative to all, or even just a simple conversation/exchange of information/ideas, its very sad and frustrating to see that people (regardless of what stance they have or whether they are right or wrong) so often use such things to spread the worst qualities of humanity, espescially over things like personal preferance in a video game that has no bearing on the real world.
