Is there any way to disable SHiFT cross-platform play without being connected to the servers?
I keep getting the infinite creating online session loop and I can't go online. I can only play offline or LAN. The new patch totally screwed up and broke online play. The only way I know to be able to fix this is if you disable shift cross-platform play in Network Options. However, you can't even access this and disable it unless you're online so there's no way to turn it off unless you can join a friends game that isn't broken and disable it.

Does anyone know if there is a way to disable it through the .ini files or something like that? I've tried unlinking Steam from shift so it would prompt me with the un-bypassable menus that come up when you first play bl2 without a shift account, but it didn't work because the internet was still messed up and wouldn't create an online session.

Go to the community hub. Someone provides the files to undo the "patch" that messed the game up. Make sure to disable updates after that.
It's sad that the community has to fix silly stuff like that. But at least there is a solution

On that, note, *how* do we disable auto-updates? For specific games instead of globally? The only three options I have for BL2's auto-update all keep it enabled. None of them disable it in any way.

I also checked the downloads options on Steam and I didn't see an option to disable auto-update. I know this should be possible cuz I've seen that option before, but idk if they changed it or if I just forgot where it's supposed to be.

It is described at the place where you get the files.
You have to change an entry in a textfile.

There you go. It's everityng explained there.
Though I solved it a bit different. I made a second instance of steam in c: wiht only BL2 installed.
I never launch that instance of steam and open Bl2 via desktop symbol while the oher steam instance is open.

The author of that guide explained in the comments that there's no way to disable auto-updates entirely. They also suggest to disable them prior to modifying that value, but there's no such option.

Anyway, at least it works. Wouldn't be the first time changes have to be made after an update, so I'm not bothered by that. Especially if Gearbox realize they made mistakes and fix them, as they should.

I missunderstood that part then, my misstake. As I said I just have a seperate steam instance for Bl2, I made that lukely a while a go to have one for BL2 with the UCP Mod.

But it realy sucks that we as the community have to fix the mess that GB did.
There was no reason to unfix a game that worked perfecty fine for almost a decade.
