Is Tediore the worst manufacturer in Borderlands 2?
Im gonna be honest, I almost made a "There is no worst manufacturer change meh mind" thread until I got to Tediore.

Firstly, Tediore is probably the least viable manufacturer in early game where you have very small maximum ammo, so Tediore reloads would have a bigger impact on your ammo than it would be if you have big

Secondly, does anybody use Tediore on any vaulthunter other than Axton? He is clearly the best vaulthunter to use Tediore guns with, and Tediore guns are overall not as good as other manufacturers when it comes to killing enemies by shooting them rather than reloading. Sure, there are sooome red-text Tediore guns that are better at killing enemies with bullets than with reloading, but there are not a lot of those compared to other manufacturers.

Is Tediore the worst manufacturer in Borderlands 2? This is not a "Tediore is the worst manufacturer in Borderlands 2, change MEH MIND" thread, this is a legit question, because I kinda don't have an opinion right now until maybe if I read other people's thoughts.

Eh, Tediore is okay. The reload grenade can be handy, as is the ammo regeneration of the Avenger. I could think of at least two manufacturers that are worse than Tediore: Dahl and Bandit. I hate those brands.

Dahl is viable on a suitably skilled-out siren with a Cat mod that can boost Dahl's slow speed and increase crit damage especially during phaselock. Give her a longbow Crossfire, Lascaux, Seraphim or Veruc, Hornet, and Scout or Pitchfork and she's quite deadly. The problem is high ammo consumption. You can somewhat overcome this by un-scoping quickly, or of course by playing with a Hoarder.

Generally Dahl wouldn't be my first choice, but for me both it and Tediore sneak in ahead of Bandit, though Bandit's non-unique and non-Etech purple shotguns and launchers are probably underrated by most players.

Ah.....I forgot about Bandit launchers. Daaang...They're good.

Excessive ammo consumption for Tediore weapons can be mitigated if you don't reload early. Or if you absolutely have to reload without wasting ammo, (Like between fights or something) you can unequip and reequip the weapon. Granted this is kind of tedious, but maybe that's where the manufacturer gets it's name. Hah.

They're niche, I guess. Early game, I liked their SMGs (I think?) because they were rapid fire, fairly accurate, and as soon as I killed one enemy, I could lob and reload the gun to kill a second enemy. They're good for getting Second Winds, I think - fire once, reload, repeat. I keep trying out normal Tediore guns, but they all suck - I'll SOMETIMES use a Dahl AR or pistol, or SOMETIMES a Hyperion shotgun or pistol, but Tediore is the only one lately that every weapon I find is weak and inaccurate.

I can't quite explain it - the target reticule is pretty small, but the shotgun I had just... felt like I was spitting paper balls at the enemy. It just "felt" weak. I still kinda like their SMGs for up-close headshot gains, but the more I play, the more I begin to favor elemental weapons and shotguns. It's pretty rare for me to find a good elemental Tediore SMG, and their shotguns aren't for me.

I'd put them tied for last place, manufacturer-wise, with Dahl.

- Dahl and Tediore are both very useful in niche circumstances, but don't really fit my style of gameplay very often - and when they do, the guns are often replaced early on.
- Bandit fire weapons are surprisingly viable early on, when you don't have any reload speed perks so you want to focus on power, fire rate, and/or magazine size, to clear out a camp without needing to reload.
- Hyperion pistols are great for Second Winds via headshots, even from a good distance away. Their shotguns typically have large magazines, consume less ammo, and the consistent headshots make up for the weaker bullet strength.
- Vladof guns are very good when you find a good one. Early game, their spinniguns can wipe out a badass enemy. Mid game, their repeater pistols are comparable to a Maliwan SMG in terms of damage. Their assault rifles, from my experience, quickly turn to ♥♥♥♥ the further into the game you go. They're my second favorite brand for sniping.
- Maliwan's pretty good for everything. Not a fan of their shotguns, but they're my third favorite brand of sniper, favorite for SMGs and AR. Their pistols are... ehh. They're like early game revolvers, but... they just feel wrong.
- Jakobs is my favorite for sniping, and I like their revolvers for "defending" - waiting for an enemy to run around a corner, or a psycho to charge me. I can't aim them for ♥♥♥♥ when on the run - they feel less accurate than they did in BL1. I hate their shotguns - have absolutely no idea what the appeal is.

I can't really judge Torgue, because I've never found a gun that felt good from them. Their ARs are too slow for my taste, their shotguns devour ammo like crazy, their pistols feel too slow to be useful... No idea what the appeal is.

Never really cared for Tediore weapons. I tend to reload reflexively anytime I'm not actively shooting someone soooo... lotta ammo wasted there.

<shrugs>

Reviewing for BL2 and weapons category only, and from a somewhat practical standpoint.
Aside from the Fastball, Avenger, Octo and Blockhead, Tediore is kinda Axton/Commando - exclusive manufacturer, especially on higher dificulties. That being said, DAHL is also somewhat underwhelming when it comes to weapons (!), Sandhawk, Picthfork, Hornet and Seraphim being notable exceptions.Bandit brings ammo effecrive launchers, Tattler, Badaboom and the Sawbar/Madhous is also not totally useless.

Since many, if not most weapons are character/build specific, especially later on, the usefulness of manufacturers varies acoodringly, especially if someone doesn't play other characters much.

Almost nothing in the game resists explosive damage.

Almost everything in the game resists at least one other damage type.

Do the math.

People like Jakobs shotguns cuz they're accurate, powerful, deal a lot of crit damage, and they make you feel like a cowboi yeeee. If you're talking about the less accurate jakobs shotguns such as quads, everything I said still stands minus the accuracy part.

As for Torgue? Torgue is my number 1 favorite manufacturer. Their Torgue Spitters are powerful, are fast for Torgue ARs, they have the best range in the AR deparment, they deal great damage against every enemy type, they look sexy, and they are perfect on my favorite vaulthunter (Axton).

As for Torgue shotguns? Torgue Ravagers will just blow up enemy faces. Yes they're a bit slow, but so what? I enjoy slow-powerful weapons. Torgue Ravagers will one-shot enemies in OP8, and once again, they are great on my favorite vaulthunter (aXtoN). Just like Torgue Spitters, Ravagers are also sexy.

Their pistols suck tho, unless you're talking about the Unkempt Harold or Pocket Rocket.

I don't think they're the worst but they're really niche and one dimensional in what they offer. Since the only thing that matters on tediore gun is mag size and damage for the reload throws it doesn't really feel that different if you have an smg, pistol, or shotgun, just shoot once and throw. The only real difference is what ammo pool theyre eating through, and tediore shotguns have a wonky throwing arc. Other manufacturers have more variance between weapon types. (Bandit rocket launchers are great but their assault rifles are terrible, for instance.)

It also doesn't help that they don't make as many special effect guns compared to other manufacturers.

Sawbar is one assault rifle.

I find that the manufacturer's gimmick is only good when used on the right kind of gun.
Tediore, Maliwan -> SMG
Bandit -> Rocket Launcher
Vladof, Jakobs, Maliwan, DAHL -> Sniper
Torgue -> Shotgun
etc.
