Anti-cheat would have made BL2 soo addicting
Such a great game.. I am only lv60 and i wake up excited every morning just to play borderlands2 and level up my gunzerker. I could see myself really getting into this game.. Like thousands of hours multiple lv80 characters, repeating dungeons over and over for a specific legendary item etc.etc

But would you seriously invest your time into an mmo-type game where any player can adjust their stats or item droprate using wordpad? There has not been a single session where i have not heard of another player asking to "dupe" something. I seriously got kicked from a game for not hacking. The host said "4 players we can do terramorphis now". Then the host asked "All skills unlocked?" and i said "No" and he explained how i do it and i said nah and he kicked me. Imagine getting kicked in a game for not cheating..

Its sad this game has no anticheat. I hope borerlands3 is a proper multiplayer game

I completely disagree! This game is 10x better with a party.

I agree that it should have an anti-cheat system. The fact is that it does devalue items if you can just run up some cheat software and obtain them. I absolutely disagree with people who say it doesn't matter. It does matter to the people who want to play the game as it was written by the devs. They can cheat to their hearts content if they are playing solo but they should be instantly barred from public games.
Cheating was commonplace in BL2. Half of the people seem to have obtained their Legendary weapons using cheats. And it was one of the things that really put me off the game after a while.

not only does it not have an anti cheat, but its completely open! Anyone can edit the unreal engine files and still play online! Its just sad i know this game is old but borderlands3 better be secure!

When playing online the characters themselves should at least all be stat capped to avoid cheating. Like 76 skillpoints being the serverside-max per player. When i first started playing i thought the cheating was just duping weapons/gear. I can live with that. But I was truly heartbroken when i found out players had all skillpoints unlocked (which makes the player like 2-3x more powerful than the game is balanced for)

like i, and others, have said, you are allowed to play the way you like and nobody is allowed to tell you how to play, IE, you kicking cheaters, that said, that does not mean you have the right to tell others how they play, people have fun in different ways, and as long as there is ways to protect yourself, (the kick feature) then it is not an issue.

as others have said, this is not an online game, this is a co-op game, meaning players can't really affect one another in the end

play the game your way, and let others play the game their way.

Precisely - hence why you don't cheat or mod in multiplayer. There's always so ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ excuse, none are valid. "Oh but it's coop" as if cheating in coop games was ok, bugger off with that. Cheating/modding is for solo play. Anyone who does it in MP ought to at least have the balls to own up to their decision. They don't give a damn about ruining other's fun. Ok, fine. Just admit it then. Don't pretend it's all fine, that's laughable.

good thing theres a kick feature so it doesn't have to affect you if someone makes that mistake, cant say i ever really seen anyone do it to be fair, or at least not in an obvious way.

Technically, there isn't any online play.

The co-op mode is Peer-to-Peer. There aren't any dedicated servers.

As pretty much everyone in the thread has said:

Make some like minded friends and play with them.
Host games rather than joining random ones, and kick people who are cheating.

The game doesn't require the kind of heavy oversight that a competitive PvP game does.

You are absolutely right, ive only been playing this for a few months but that is the first thing i thought....there should be a way for me to not have to worry and have a game that is non-cheat or edited in any way
Black Hole Apr 27, 2019 @ 11:55am
I only duplicate when everyone else worked hard to try to get a legendary, sadly in this game which they said is fixed for bl3 only one in the group can get the legendary so it's fair to have a way so everyone can enjoy a very hard and rare gun to get that you might not come across for months.

What annoys me and ruins the game for me is when cheaters just throw hundreds of legendaries on the ground, that too me is something I will no longer bother with and refuse to play with anyone not playing legit.

Duplicating a gun everyone worked hard to find and get by defeating a hard boss or by chance found it is one thing, throwing a bunch of rare loot you never even tried to find or get yourself is another.

yeah cheats/duping completely ruins pug multiplayer, i dont want to get carried by someone with hacked weapons and infinite hp, that's just stupid

When I play I do not want to artificially win. I do not want to win because my party employs cheats. And the onus should not be on me to try to detect cheats rather they should be detected automatically and barred from public games. I mean if you really want to cheat your way to victory then have a disable option on anti-cheat for your parties. Me, I want the enable option ticked!

I really do think that cheating so dominated the game towards the end that it did ruin it for me. I wanted to play in parties but every single party there was someone cheating. Cheating should not be allowed in public games. People do not have the right to ruin the game for others and the default should be NO CHEATING!

Well, there could have been a toggle-able feature that allows/prevents cheaters from entering the session. I've had some fair share of players who gave me gibbed items such as a level 15 Norfleet, and it does sort of ruin the experience knowing how long it takes for one to get this.

It's kind of sad that the only way for a guaranteed no-cheat playthrough was to play with friends since that's always the lazy solution in multiplayer games (because playing anything is more fun with friends). Thankfully enough, I rarely witness cheaters on my end, and when there is one, I would either simply kick them or just leave.

I have a feeling that this issue would only matter to those who haven't finished the game on their very first run because problems like these in co-op games are not much of a big deal once I started my second playthrough.

here is the solution: see cheater->open up party menu->kick, you are now able to play without cheats, while they still are capable of it.

the default is no cheating, cause by default, you don't have any, so congrats, still egt what you want.

again, co-op/multiplayer, very different meanings, you have every tool needed to play a non cheat game if you desire, in turn, they ahve every tool needed to play cheat games, literally nobody loses.
Sanyavok Apr 27, 2019 @ 3:57pm
other than duping I dont think any cheating is necessary if you play with friends. I mean would you go and farm like a lvl 20 infinity pistol with 4 friends to have all of you the pistol? you cant even do that because by the time the 4. would drop, the first one would be underleveled so yeah maybe at lvl72 or op8 you can start play fair with the drops with friends
