How do I refer to the robot characters in BL2?
If I remember correctly, everyone refers to Claptrap, the canon single one in BL2 let's not complicate it with the whole product line, as he, so do I call Claptrap by him? And the same about Deathtrap, Gaige calls it "boy" but how does it feel about that, I hate to have been mislabeling it all the way to level 80.

And the more important question: what does Krieg identify as besides a poop train conductor, he says he has the shiniest meat bicycle but then also wants to ride other meat bicycles.

I'm obligated to correct the fact that the actual line that Krieg says is "I am the shiniest meat bicycle." And as such would like to be referred to as one.

I think its safe to assume Moxxi programmed Innuendobot to be male given its dialogue, but I guess I wouldn't be right to assume anything. But you bring up a good point about censorbot and especially Mal, it wanted to be human, but what how would they identify? Hmmm

Well he is insane so I suppose it could be am or have, but it definitely sounds like have to me. But that still leaves the question of how to address a meat bicycle.

Technically there -are- two personalities within Krieg. Though each personality may refer to themselves as I and use singular pronouns, using 'we' or 'they' honestly wouldn't be incorrect.

Of course, third parties would never know about his trapped personality so Krieg would stay a 'he' and 'his' to them unless he somehow manages to communicate his affliction, but the likelihood of that happening is slim to zero.

"how does it feel about that"
I think you are over thinking, just let it be, no point in this at all, they are robots, refer them has it, they have no gender, since they are objects, very advanced, but still objects

Gearbox obviously cares and wants people to address their characters properly, if Gearbox wants us to refer to one of their new robot characters as them/they then should we refer to the old characters the same way? And saying they are just objects is cruel they are people have their own identities.

"therman" or "theshe"

Claptrap has expressed desire to sexually associate with women even if he's incapable of fornicating and has also expressed a dislike of 'dudes' so he definitely has some preference as far as sexuality is concerned, and I -think- Roland has called claptrap a 'him' in a few dialogues but I could be misremembering.

Edit: In going through claptraps wiki page it seems all of his (ITS AAAAAAAH) pronouns are 'it', and honestly now I'm kicking myself for never looking in the past to see if it was anything else. Hindsight is 20/20 I suppose

Hot damn you're right, it does say it all of the wiki and it doesn't seem to have been edited recently. I swear the other vault hunters called it by he/him once in a while but I suppose now that I think of it they always called it by name avoiding the topic.

There is dialogue in TPS where Jack talks about his specific Claptrap: "Run an an analysis on how many subroutines we'd have to include to minimize the potential that my prototype won't drop what he's doing and sing karaoke." And "Yeah, I... well, hey, that might actually work. He'd lose most of his memories, but, come on. It's just a robot. It's not like it had feelings or anything." But that could just be Jack imposing his humanization on Claptrap.

Nevermind, question answered, when activating VAULTHUNTER.EXE one of the lines he can say is "What will he do next?" and then when he get the decoy skill he says "Shoot him... he's the real one..."

When idle in TPS he talks about when Jack upgraded him ""I never got to play with guns when I was but a lad, but then ol' Jackie came along, and he was awful mad. 'I need a robot!' he declared, 'that can do my mighty deeds'."

I'll have to replay the claptrap dlc at some point and there's a claptrap mini web series.
