He says "have"
Of course, third parties would never know about his trapped personality so Krieg would stay a 'he' and 'his' to them unless he somehow manages to communicate his affliction, but the likelihood of that happening is slim to zero.
I think you are over thinking, just let it be, no point in this at all, they are robots, refer them has it, they have no gender, since they are objects, very advanced, but still objects
Edit: In going through claptraps wiki page it seems all of his (ITS AAAAAAAH) pronouns are 'it', and honestly now I'm kicking myself for never looking in the past to see if it was anything else. Hindsight is 20/20 I suppose
There is dialogue in TPS where Jack talks about his specific Claptrap: "Run an an analysis on how many subroutines we'd have to include to minimize the potential that my prototype won't drop what he's doing and sing karaoke." And "Yeah, I... well, hey, that might actually work. He'd lose most of his memories, but, come on. It's just a robot. It's not like it had feelings or anything." But that could just be Jack imposing his humanization on Claptrap.
Nevermind, question answered, when activating VAULTHUNTER.EXE one of the lines he can say is "What will he do next?" and then when he get the decoy skill he says "Shoot him... he's the real one..."
When idle in TPS he talks about when Jack upgraded him ""I never got to play with guns when I was but a lad, but then ol' Jackie came along, and he was awful mad. 'I need a robot!' he declared, 'that can do my mighty deeds'."
I'll have to replay the claptrap dlc at some point and there's a claptrap mini web series.
