Unlimited golden key hack patched?

[Tried looking online for anything more recent, but I can only seem to find posts from about five years ago.]

I've tried to follow a guide on how to reuse golden keys by setting a file in the save data folder to "read only." However this does not seem to work as my key count does not reset on exiting and reentering the game.

Has this been patched? If so, is there another way to get more golden keys without doing contrite social media jank for Gearbox or looking up current SHIFT code guides?

I only started playing this game within the past few weeks, already have close to a hundred hours and my highest level character is only 40. Obviously the best time to use the golden keys is at max level, however without grinding out levels I'm not sure how much longer it will take me to max out just even the Siren I've been playing, let alone other characters.

well personally i'd say use the keys while leveling because once your max you'll want gear mostly with Red Text because they almost always out class purples. but to get more keys DL a profile editor and give your self 10k keys.

To have the "unlimited" golden keys just copy "profile.bin" archive, use all your keys then delete the "profile.bin" and paste the new archive and....WHOOOOSH~ u got all your keys back.

Can you not use golden key codes? I've never run out of keys and I have to use them just to be able to grab the new ones.
