@Somm , thanks for the tip. Yea its impossible to say how a game will be received even by the individual until you jump in and try. Guess there's nothing more to be said I'll just start playing.
The first playthrough is basically learning the game, the mechanics and the story.
The 2nd playthrough, you now know how it all works, you have a more powerful character and some tougher enemies. More of a challenge than normal mode.
The 3rd playthrough is where the s**t gets real. Tougher enemies who always scale to your level. The loot does too though. Everything before that has been learning the character / game / mechanics etc. This is where your characters become Dangerous and then Badass, and with the new level cap increase and the extra skill points, Super Badasses.
UVHM is where it becomes FUN. This is where the game should be played imo. This is not for everyone though.
---- final note ----
The three playthroughs have level caps, it is always a good idea to try to stick to them, rather than becoming over-level.
Normal : level 1 to 30-35 - with the new Lilith DLC going to 38.
TVHM : level 32 - 50.
UVHM : 50 to 80.
It is important to start UVHM at level 50 or maybe a bit over. Why? Because UVHM enemies always scale to you, and trying to take on UVHM enemies with under-level gear is A Bad Idea. (TVHM with the level 50 cap for weapons...)
If you are a "one and done" sort of player then tvhm and uvhm are not for you since its the same thing.
Those buggers are totally on drugs !
Don't you mean: "where it becomes a tedious slag" ?

It just helps and make its a lot easier
You can also just use homing slag nades and that way you never have to switch guns
Basically, you need to try to remember which quests give good rewards, and try to do them when level appropriate. There's nothing stopping you from starting the DLC at 33, hopping over to the main campaign to get a level 35 quest reward, then hopping back into the DLC.
It's really messy. Luckily, most of the DLCs don't have amazing quest rewards, but instead let you farm enemies for the campaign rewards. (Captain Scarlett might be the exception.)
So, yeah. I'd recommend doing 1-30ish in the normal game mode. Start TVHM, then try out a DLC or two - just try to finish the main story by level 50 at the latest. In UVHM, you can do anything in whatever order you want. The missions don't have a set level until you accept them. So you can grind the DLCs for levels, then start the main story at level 72 or 80 or whatever. Or you can rush the main story, then start the DLCs.
Just try not to get burned out.
On my level 69 Krieg, some of the enemies heal faster than I can pump out damage. Solo Krieg felt much harder than playing with my Siren friend slagging everybody for me.
