it might've been a condition 2K made with Epic.
What are you talking about, Steam hasn't wised up. Other than adding a still not-very-good refund policy because a lawsuit forced them to, they are still operating in the same dubious ways they always have, and still taking a ludicrously high 30% cut per each copy of a game sold.
Steam has had no reason to wise up yet, and still doesn't, as at the moment they are still much huger than EGS, and large publishers like Ubisoft are still too afraid to abandon Steam completely.
But in the coming years as EGS continues to grow, and as all big publishers finally decide to stop giving away 30% of their profits for no good reason by simply never releasing anything on Steam, that is when Steam will have to wise up or else become drastically smaller in size than it is now as its revenues start to take huge hits.
Steam isn't in that place yet, but it's definitely coming.
As a customer I have no problems with steam, but I can appreciate why developers want to get away from the ocean of crap that gets put on steam and the high cut up front. If Epic can keep their store from becoming bloated that will be a pro for them.
I've been enjoying it since the whining started on the forums. Everyone who was against epic gave up. Specially since they released their numbers of selling 5 million copies. They haven't done anything to prove a 2k representative wrong so seeing then squirm and moving goal posts is a delight.
Also I gained a stalker over the internet which is just delightful. Wonder how long he'll follow me for?
