S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl

Sooo, this game isn't technically a post-apocalypse game.
A post-apocalypse setting is when the WHOLE world (Or atleast one country) is devastated (Fallout 3 & The Last Of Us), this game is just based around one area of Ukraine AKA Chernobyl.

Yes.
Yes, but it feels more bleak than most post-apocalypse games

Well, it didn't specify that the rest of the world was destroyed in both games you mentioned. It only specified that the U.S.A was destroyed by nukes/devastated by a disease.

I'm not sure about The Last of Us, but in the Fallout lore the rest of the world is destroyed. Europe was in constant stuggle for centuries and basically blew itself up. Asia got nuked, as did North America. I don't know off hand about South America or western Asia. I suppose they could be fine, but I doubt it considering all the fallout would kill at least all humans unless they had vaults like there were in the US. As far as lore goes I don't think we know about whether or not there were vaults anywhere else.

Not trying to be hostile, I just really like the Fallout lore :)

USA is connected to Mexico, Canada, to which those country's are bound to have the spore disease spread even with tight quarantine, you can't seal off everything that goes outside, so it's debatable if the world is infected with the spore virus, as for Fallout, it's also debatable since in all reality, if there was other countries that didn't get bombed, I'm pretty sure I'd move to another country if I was in that scenario, & in S.T.A.L.K.E.R. it's based on one specific area in a country (Ukraine) that is still stable outside of The Zone, with the military troops having laws within The Zone, as for Fallout & The Last of Us, those are based on a WHOLE country devastated, I guess the term post-apocalypse CAN be used if one country is left abandonned or destroyed, I also guess you could consider S.T.A.L.K.E.R. sorta a post-apocalypse game since it does include the atmoshpheric affect of being in a place that is unstable & abandonned, but I would still consider S.T.A.L.K.E.R. mainly a Survival Horror-ish Open World Adventure game.

I know, but you said 'a post apocalypse setting is when the WHOLE world is destroyed,' and you had fallout & the last of us as examples of the whole world being destroyed, when there isn't enough proof to specify. fallout and TLOU are both good games, but it really just seems to be the USA being destroyed. (Technically STALKER is post-nuclear.)

I retract that statement.

The zone is the area around the chernobyl nuclear disaster area.

apocalyptic as the word implies is something that affects the whole world, you can't have apocalypse in a country. it is global. no question.

apocalypse is not mentioned in the game description - i just read and ctrl+f 'ed it. There's a user given tag of post - apocalypse but i'd wager that it was promoted by the 12yo who didn't know better.

which leads me to the final paragraph: do you really don't have better things to do than to argue about things that are non-existent to begin with?
