It didn't strike me as harder than advanced. in fact it flowed a lot easier in my opinion. But I'm used to pubbing in advanced. So factor that.
But for me, it's WAY harder than Two Cities/Mecha Engine.
Expert was made before 2 cities though. So refund spam tends to make it a lot easier then it was intended to be.
I play me fortress 2 in MvM. Trusting your own judgement and capabilities is always better then trusting the dumb randoms you usually get matched with.
That's why I added the caveat of players who can't carry their own weight.
Got some bad news for you. Engie in Expert gets much, much harder, because your sentry will take most of the damages done by the robots AND you won't have a lot of money to repair efficiently and to increase the health of your sentry.
Also, the spots on the buildings ? Forget them. Your sentry will die in seconds here. Prefer a spot where robots can't shoot you from far away, and where your sentry is on the bomb path.
And finally, as an Engie, your role is to keep an eye on the bomb, so don't hesitate to move your sentry back if the bomb is behind your team, but KEEP THE DISPENSER WHERE YOUR TEAM IS ! This is your team's main health and ammo resupply, and they need it more than you. If your team move back, move the dispenser back, but if they move forward, do the same with the dispenser, but always keep the sentry near the bomb.
Oh, and your friend will have a hard time as a Medic. The main reasons Medic isn't in the Expert meta is because it's not a damage class and is pretty expensive to upgrade. Your friend have to be more than a decent Medic to be actually useful.
But if you actually try to help the team the best you can while still doing good damage, it's can be pretty challenging.
However, with good teammates that have knowledge in MvM, none of them are very hard.
Well you still have to do the classic Milk/Mark/get money job, which doesn't change too much from mission to mission, and if you go Support Scout (or Passive Scout as people call it here).
But you should learn, or re-learn, where the money mostly drop in those maps. You will only play Coaltown and Mannworks on Oil Spill and Steel Trap. Re-learning how to play Scout in those maps shouldn't be too complicated.
But remember that your team might already have a Scout, and you can't always play this class. Make sure you at least know how to decently play 6 classes, it should be enough to adapt yourself to any team.
I think it'd be a good idea to practice with scout before picking him in expert MvM then. The way it sounds - with so much less cash to collect I mean - missing any cash is a lot more damaging to the team.
Don't start with the "less money" BS either, you have enough to get the needed upgrades just like every other tour.
What's so hard about Hamlet then?
