Problem: Enemy player wears my team color

Recently, a new problem has developed. I'll be playing a match when suddenly I notice an enemy firing at me wearing the color of my team. This is NOT a spy. For example, if I'm on the Red team, a Red Sniper takes me out with a headshot from a long distance away. Or a Red Demo takes me out with grenades. And its not the whole team. Its usually only one player while the rest of the opposing force is Blu. This has happend on several servers, so I was thinking either this is a hack someone is using or there's something wrong with the client information on my computer.

Has anyone else experienced this issue before?
Does anyone know how to fix it so that, other than a spy in disguise, all enemies have the opposite color (not my teammates' color)?

Is this happening on all servers? You might have joined one that allows friendly fire or some other odd setting.

No, these are not friendly-fire servers. These are servers I have gamed on for months. This problem has only just started happening this week. I can still spy-check my teammates and no friendly fire.

Maybe the server decided to turn the friendly fire on? Have you tried joining other servers?

No, this sometimes happens, its a glitch. At least its happened to me a couple of times.

Quite often, my team has members wearing the enemy's colour. It does indeed get frustrating.

I've seen it before and their team colored hat, misc and weapons show up as there real team.

This usually happens to me on Pinion servers; their ads and general crappiness gives me random lag spikes which can mess up cosmetics, give this bug, or even make enemies invisible. The general fix is to type

record demo; stop

into the consle.

That video posted above by The_Optimizer is exactly what I'm seeing. Not everyone is mixed, but there will be one person who isn't on my team but has the color for my team (who isn't a spy) that can use his weapons (like the demo grenades) to attack me (and in death, change back to his team's color). THAT'S THE BUG! And its really annoying.

I remember playing the halloween 2013 map, and pushing the cart when without warning I was instantly switched from team BLU to team RED. My teammates blasted me instantly. Perhaps that's what happened?

If you're playing on lotus servers (or anything like that, Skial and such) they allow donors to custom paint their characters any color, thus meaning a BLU donor could paint themselves RED just to completely screw with the red team.

THESE ARE NOT FRIENDLY FIRE SERVERS-- I have the exact same problem where some people are opposite colors of their actual team. Sometimes they don't even appear at all, but their weapons will in the default T-position (I know this because they don't move and I can predict what the actual model looks like). This has been happening since the last halloween update, because in that update, the HUD broke and people all over the place were displaying the wrong hud colors (everyone noticed it), some people showed the wrong color in the killfeed, etc. Valve hasn't fixed this game breaking bug, and they probably never will since they can't realize ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. All I know is that if you reconnect it fixes it, but that's a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ fix.
