In my honest opinion, I would say this game is easier than any 2D fighter (at least any that I've played) since they tend to require coordinated button mashing, while this is a lot more forgiving (half of most fights can be completed just by shooting regular bullets). I would still only recommend it if you have very fast reflexes and can handle split-second timing, but it sounds like you would likely be into that. Your first playthrough almost definitely will take over 5 hours, but it has good replay value for the challenge (of speedrunning, S-ranking and an unlocked harder difficulty). Plus there's a DLC if all of that still isn't enough.
Just to be clear, my first run took me around 12 hours because I suck at these games.

Its a boss rush, but not the easiest game to get the hang of. I'd say, maybe 8-10 hours if you are having fun replaying on hard mode (which is the good version of difficulty, where the bosses are more responsive and have new moves, stats are unchanged).

I just finished the game(furi difficulty first playthrough) - clear time was 4:59. Game is indeed very short, and only boss battles. It was on sale for $5 and I bought it, and think it's very much worth it at that price(probably flat 8-10 dollar game imo). Music was great, boss battles were fun to learn and involved pattern recognition, timing, reflexes, and a tiny bit of puzzle solving.

Took me just over 4 hours to complete on first playthough on the "regular" difficulty. The only bosses I had trouble with (more than one game over) were 3rd last and last boss.

Yeah, third boss is a boring slog, and the last boss...well, less boring slog, but still kind of a bad final boss.

Sorry, meant the 3rd last boss. The one with melee only. Could not get his different patterns down until i had a few game overs.

The Edge. I actually liked him. He was by far the most difficult (game overed my ass a number of times) but it was and is still really fun fighting him honestly. Probably because he's not a sponge like the other bosses (and neither are you) as a consequence, win or lose, the fight progresses pretty quick.

The game is a boss rush, it's also a fantastic game and totally worth it. Wait for a sale if you are paranoid.
