-booby trap a building or area that you think the enemy will later occupy, esp on radios or ammo stations to deny their use to the enemy. A c4 on a forward radio will disrupt their command for a bit and push them back to spawn, which can be pretty helpful albeit temporary.
-trap a bottleneck approach during a point defense- tunnel exits, trenches, doorways, fatal funnels
-be used to set off an ambush on approaching or pursuing enemy squad
-explode enemy ordinance like mines
-create a distraction for your squad ( I know I'm assuming a high degree of coordination here)
-clear enemy tunnels / rooms / fortified positions
-explode in general enemy vicinity to create some supression
-set near a spawn tunnel and farm kills
-booby trap a helo to become a kamakazi
-"frag" a lazy commander
-sculpt rabbits and other wildlife creatures
But, ya it all mostly boils down to situations and ways to blow stuff up. I'm having a similar question about claymores, which are used I guess in similar ways, except directionally, making them imo less useful and more troublesome to use. Charlie's tripwire and punji traps on the other hand, are very useful set and forget.

Hey.
The TNT you can use ingame, is used for defensive roles and " heroic " tactics as I would call it.
Defensive: Put it in a room or in some bush on the field, and when a bunch of lads is trying to crawl up all together, you trigger it.
Offensive: You sneak near enemy positions, and throw it at them, and then trigger it...
It pretty much works like a strong handgrenade with trigger. That's about it.
Overall I find C4/TNT in this game pretty useless, since you are not able to destroy buildings nor vehicles... It's just very powerful, that's all.
