Any news on the linux port?
Hello there, the title basicly says it all.
The linux version was anounced to be released at the end of september.
Its now over mid october.

And I'm worryed we wont see a linux port at all?
Im very hyped for everspace cause I crave for a space shooting game like ED,SC and everspace.

I know this is not at all the same type of game as ED and SC.
So any news on the linux port :D?

Is it the prop driver you're having issues with or the oss mesa stack on AMD?

would indeed be interessting to know if the issues are with one of the blobs or oss - the blobs are more or less pointless for gaming nowadays ^^

And for a change I do have good news for you: We still have problems on AMD cards, but on NVIDIA the game is up and running again and amazingly enough it seems that on NVIDIA all graphical issues have been fixed! We playtested a bit earlier today and there were a few issues with the controls and controls customization and we could not switch languages (which should be an easy fix) but other than that it all looked very promising.

So the plan is to first release the build "under the radar" to players who already backed or bought the game. (Without Linux support showing up on steam). I can't give you an exact date, but I think it's going to happen soon. Yay!

Hi Andi. Your AMD card problem is can be that.

https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=101977

This looks like an Unreal Engine bug exclusive to radeonsi.

At least Marek Olsak , Timothee Besset and Dave Airlie proved that way.

LD_PRELOAD=/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libelf.so ./UE4Editor

This a temporary workaround to load the system libelf first.

Also as Dave Airlie noted that , enabling the UE4 linker script fixes this also.

I'm not a tech guy but it looks like the problem.

Hello MasterOfPuppets,

thanks a lot for this hint. On the first view it looks plausible and promising, I probably would not have found this report on the freedesktop site and will give it a try as soon as I can. The last tests I did to enforce proprietary amdgpu-pro drivers broke a couple of things that needs to be cleaned up before I can check this ELF issue in a sane way.

Sadly this also didn't work out. There are still freezes on ATI GPUs and there are currently some other folks reporting similar issues in the Unreal Answer Hub. So we assume this problems on ATI hardware are engine related and it seems there is not much left we can do about this at the moment.
Although, as Andi already pointed out, we are still planning to provide an inofficial beta at least for nVidia quite soon.

We all appreciate the testing, there's not too much you can do when it's Unreal Engine issues. I would still appreciate a Linux version even if it's NVIDIA only until a solution is found for AMD issues. Other game developers have done the same in the past.

Also, may be worth speaking to https://www.patreon.com/ue4linux about Linux related issues.

Also, in case it's a Mesa driver bug on AMD, bug reports go here: https://bugs.freedesktop.org/enter_bug.cgi?product=Mesa :)

Can't see anything in beta branch, as far as I'm aware the developers haven't put it out yet

They are working on it, but it's only set for developer keys right now.

You'll be happy to hear that we've just "offically unofficially" released the Linux version. Please give us your feedback here http://steamcommunity.com/app/396750/discussions/0/ or for specific problems that might require some back and forth open a new thread in the bugs & technical issues section.

Does this mean that if I buy it I will be able to install it? I don't see a linux icon on the store page so just want to understand how i Install it...
