How do you defeat the English?

I'm currently playing a save with Italy and I simply don't have the power to defeat the English, the Mediterranean is completely taken over by their navy and at least for me it's impossible to expel their navy from there. I've already managed to take Malta and Suez, but that doesn't make any difference, they seem to only need Cyprus and Gibraltar to do everything, besides, in Africa they have a gigantic army and I can barely stand them before Egypt. How do they do it, or do they just not do it?

For me to the defeat the English is a bit difficult. I use Naval invasion

All majors except Germany to an extent are vulnerable to submarines (USA and UK especially vulnerable). Any nation, however small, can pump out a lot of submarines, unless you don't have any ports or manpower problems. (But even if you play a Scandinavian country you can dominate the sea, easier with Sweden due to abundance of Steel)

Submarines will sink their convoys, this include resource convoys and troop convoys. I've had games as Sweden where I've done a major nation part of inflicted casualties only by sinking convoys.

You can also rush 1944 sub tech with snorkels and then just use that submarine fleet as a regular fleet. I've sunk the US, Japanese and UK fleets using nothing but submarines. With some battles having a lot of their main ships vs 10 of my 1944 submarines and while they might sink 1-2 of my subs if they're lucky, I've won the tonnage war and it wasn't even close.

So like others have said, use submarines. Then when you've weakened their naval superiority or exhausted their manpower, do a naval invasion. I think you can even put your submarine fleet on invasion support and it'll engage should they try and stop it.

Take Suez, take Gibraltar, now the RN is locked in the Mediterranean with you, you're no longer locked in the Mediterranean with them. If you want you can then take your surface fleet into the Atlantic and do Operazione Leone Marino while your submarines and (naval) bombers grind the RN down.

The Dutch conquered them in 1688.

To beat them in hoi4, build a strong high seas fleet with cruisers and true battleships. Avoid raiders and carriers. You beat their navy into port in the channel using your fleet and airforce.

After that invade near york or in scotland. Dont land in the south. Invade before the usa arrives and never send anyone to africa.

OP clearly is playing historically and incorrectly referring to the UK as "England"
