But TBH I don't know what all the fuss it about, it changes nothing whatsoever gameplay wise.
i am just wondering lol
I was actually talking about modding Hitler's face into the game :P
But TBH the German law against it is quite silly, more or less saying "Ah yes, we Germans have a great history. Hm? WW2? What's that? never heard of it. DO NOT SAY THAT DIRTY NAME.
Ironic that they try to combat Nazi ideals by embracing censorship.
But yeah, Im sure I saw a mod fixing Hiter's mug the day after release.
This might be illegal, but no German court will lock you up for having a hitler-portrait ( non-censored) in a game, or on your homes-wall.
I have heard about nazi-groups who did underground events waving nazi flags and shouting hei* hitl*r, they were busted but non of them was ever locked up about it.
German laws are silly, yeah... But nobody in German would get locked up about it, this maybe was the case in the 50s or even 60s, but definitely not in modern Germany.
Source: Have lived in Germany for like 20 years.
Video games are classified as toys in German law. According to Paradox's legal team this means that certain things are banned and they would be held liable if they included them. They only took out what was required and they are pretty tired of dealing with the subject.

You can't really compare that.
When someone behaves like a total nazi in Germany, the " Staatsschutz " usually has a word with him after a certain amount of time, in form of an interview.
If someone seriously turns out to have a lot of influence on people and manipulates masses of people, of course this person could be locked up for it, but some dumb teens trying hard to be nazi, no reason to be locked up for that.
What nazis should more worry about is not the police, it's their reputation. Most of them are very likely to be workless for the rest of their live, because no serious employer will employ you in Germany if you are a known nazi, people distance from such individuals.
In the US, you can walk around wearing a SS uniform, if you do this in Germany, you get knocked out.
Germans tend to take this stuff way more serious since they are much better informed about it than people from the American continent.
But hey, laws are laws...It usually depends from each case and circumstances, as always.
PS: Sure you can get arrested for it..this is what the law says..but in my 20 years in Germany, I have never heard or seen that someone get jail time for nazi stuff, never more than spending like 12 hours in a cell.
